Convenient operation and remote management of Windows Server core

  

Server Core is the new minimum server installation option in Windows Server 2008 that provides the minimum environment required to run specific server roles, reducing maintenance and management requirements and the scope of attacks on those server roles. However, Server Core does not have a graphical interface and is not easy to manage. Below I share with you a few practical Server core skills, in addition we open a remote management channel of Windows Server core, manage Windows Server core in the graphical interface system.

1, a few practical Server core skills

Before demonstrating Windows Server core remote control, I first share a few very useful and interesting skills, whether local or It is very useful in remote management.

(1). Personality prompt

Server core provides the user with a command line operation interface, we can make this command line more personalized through simple operations. For example, if we want to display the current time in the command character, you can enter and execute the command "prompt [$t]$s$p$g", as shown in the picture, the current specific time will be displayed in the prompt, and each time The execution of the command line time is automatically updated. (Figure 1)

(2). Quickly obtain the Server core configuration command

For most administrators Said Server core is a relatively new, and its command line mode of operation often makes everyone discouraged, how to quickly get the Server core configuration command? In the erver core command prompt, execute "cd c:\\windows\\system32" to enter the system directory Then continue to execute "cscript SCregEdit.wsf /cli" to list all common commands for configuring Server Core without the administrator having to explore it. SCregEdit.wsf is a Server Core-specific script where the cli switch lists common commands and it has other parameters for different scenarios. (Figure 2)
