Optimize the basic settings of Win2K network speed

First, the basic settings

First of all to change the parameters of Win2000 some settings changes, which mainly include the following aspects:

1, right click on the desktop On the "network” neighbor icon, then right-click on the established dial-up connection in the "Network and Dial-up Connection" window and select the “Properties> command in the pop-up menu to enter the About Modem property settings. Window (Figure 1).

Click here to click the "Configure" button and determine the maximum transfer rate that the Modem can use in the "Maximum Speed" list. Generally, select it as “115200” if If the parameters here are wrong, it will cause your 56K flying cat to compare with the 33.6K weak cat (Figure 2).

At the same time, don't forget to enable the hardware flow control in the middle, enable modem error control " and enable modem compression”

2. In the window of Figure 1, select the "network" tab, which shows the network protocol used for the dial-up connection. In general, we use the PPP dial-up connection type, and in the list of selected components below, we can use the “Internet Protocol” to remove unnecessary components and speed up the network. (Figure 3)

Then select "Internet Protocol" and then press the "Properties" button on the right, and click the "Advanced" button in the pop-up window to start the TCP/IP protocol. The properties are set. Here, we need to switch to the "WINS” tab and remove the tick in front of the option to enable the LMHOSTS query”. (Fig. 4)

3. Go to the Control Panel and double-click “Phone and Modem Options”. In the pop-up window, you can see the Modem used by the current system, then click on “Properties” in the lower right corner. ; Press the button and press the “Change Default Preferred” button in the “Advanced” tab, which appears as the interface shown in Figure 5 (Figure 5).

One of the things you need to be reminded is that the port speed is defined as "115200", the data protocol is "Standard EC", the compression is "Enable" status, and the flow control is "Hardware" ;mode. In fact, some parameters have been changed in the past, just check it.

4. Double-click the "System" icon in the Control Panel and select the "Hardware" tab, then press the <;Device Manager> button to enter the Device Manager window. Here you can see all the devices in the computer, we need to select “port” in the list, and then double-click the port name (such as COM1) connected to the Modem to set the port properties. Here, first change the “number of bits per second” under the “Port Settings” tab to “115200”, and ensure that the data bit parameter is 8, the parity parameter is none, and the stop bit is 1. Flow control is a hardware approach (Figure 6).

Then click on the lower “Advanced” button to set the receive buffer and the transfer buffer to the maximum in the pop-up window (Figure 7), so that Modem can work for you to the maximum extent. .
