Planned management system drive letter (2)

If your computer is connected to the network, you can also assign a drive letter to the shared folder on the network. This is much more convenient than looking around in "Network Neighborhood", especially when you need to browse this folder frequently, you definitely prefer this method.

Below we introduce this method: first open a file browser, click "Tools" "Map Network Drive". Select a free drive letter in the "Drive" drop-down menu, then enter the corresponding shared folder path in the "Folder", or click "Browse" to select the corresponding folder, and finally click "OK". After that, the mapped drive letter will appear in the "Network Drive" under "My Computer."

You can also make more detailed adjustments to the system with the XP version of Tweak UI. You can hide the hard drive partition under "My Computer" "Drive Options". In this way you can hide the disk in "Browser" and "File Open/Save", but even then you can access the corresponding partition from the "Run" dialog or the command prompt. You can also use the Tweak UI to reverse the display order of the partition name - drive letter. However, in Tweak UI version 2.10, this feature has some problems: if you want the drive letter to appear in front of the partition name, you need to select "Never show drive letters", the same problem occurs for network drive letters and partition names.

In Vista, hiding drive letters is a problem. Although there are some third-party software that can provide hidden functionality (Tweak UI), the official free Tweak UI does not currently support Vista. Of course, one of the solutions is to modify it through the Group Policy Editor under Vista (of course, first of all, you need this software in your Vista version). Select "User Settings" "Administrative Templates" "Windows Components" "Windows Explorer" and double-click on "Hide Drive Letter". But here you can only choose A:, B:, C:, D: or all four drive letters, so it may not be useful for you. There are some third-party software that can directly modify the corresponding items in the registry. You can also do the same thing. First you need to log in as a system administrator, click "Start" "Run" "Registry" or enter "Regedit" directly in the search bar. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer. If your registry does not have a corresponding key value, create a new DWORD in the right frame and name it NoDrives. Then find a piece of white paper, write A-1; B-2; C-4; D-8..., Z- from top to bottom, the value after the letter is twice the previous value, then you need to hide The corresponding numbers of the drive letters are added together, for example, the value 67 corresponding to A, B, G, double-click the newly created DWORD, select decimal, then type 67 into it, click "OK" to exit the registry editor. Logging in again and logging in will reveal that the drive letter has been hidden.

If you want the drive letter to appear before the partition name, you can also add a key value below the registry. First enter HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorer. In the right frame, create a DWORD named ShowDriveLettersFirst, then double-click it and enter a key value of 4. Then restart the computer, for all users, the drive letter has appeared in front of the partition name.
