Tip: XP interface can also be modified at will

Modify the winXP installation interface, startup screen, login screen, startup screen tips collection.

First, modify the winXP pro installation interface
installation interface ---- is to install the copy of the system file, restart the installation interface, this interface stays longer, it is worth changing to enjoy After copying the installation file of winXP pro to the hard disk, click "i386" directory to find "winntbbu.dl_"; copy to a place, then open winntbbu.dl_ with winRAR, drag out a system file winntbbu.dll; (using EXESCOPR Modifying resources is fine, but it is limited by the size of the bitmap within 300KB) so this tool is not needed.
[mem]
(1), open winntbbu.dll with ResourceHacker, find 1033 (English version) in 103 and delete it, first replace 2052 (Chinese version), then build a resource, resource pointing Bitmap, the resource name is 103, the resource language is 1033, and the replacement is successful; this puts both bitmaps on, and the rest is 153. These two bitmaps are also replaced by the same method! ! !

(2) After modifying the winntbbu.dll file, you can generate winntbbu.dl_ file. The production method is to put the modified winntbbu.dll in the root directory (such as C: ), enter winXP DOS, the cursor points to the C drive, through the makecab command: "makecab winntbbu.dll winntbbu.dl_" can generate a winntbbu.dl_ file in the C drive! ! ! !

(3) In the process of replacement, errors may occur. Generally, there is no step by step or the picture is not standard. Try it more. In addition, the modified file may be larger or different from the original Microsoft, but the installation will generally not be wrong.

(4) If the system is already installed, the winntbbu.dll file can be found under the windows\\system32 of the system. After the system is installed, it is not deleted, but the decompression is placed here.

Second, modify the winXP pro boot screen
boot screen is the scroll screen that appears when the winXP pro system is installed, this screen is mainly to modify the Ntoskrnl.ex_ file, the same Also find "ntoskrnl.ex_" under "i386", find and copy to a place, open with winRAR, drag out the file ntoskrnl.exe inside; open with ResourceHacker, the bitmap is inside: 1, 2, ... 8, 9, 1000; modify a certain line; after the modification is completed, copy ntoskrnl.exe to c:, open "DOS command mode" and point to C:\\, run: "makecab ntoskrnl.exe ntoskrnl. Ex_" can generate a modified ntoskrnl.ex_ on the C drive; success! !
Note: The generated file may be large, but generally it will not be a problem; just put this file under I386.
If the winXP pro system has been installed, you can put the modified ntoskrnl.exe under c:\\windows\\system32 instead of the original one.

Third, modify the winXP pro login screen
login interface --- is also the "welcome" of the previous interface, if you set the password to login will appear this interface. This interface can be modified by modifying the Logonui.ex_ file; look it up in "i386"; first open it with winRAR, drag out the file Logonui.exe inside; open Logonui.exe with ResourceHacker, modify it. . . If the system is already installed, the Logonui.exe file is installed under \\windows\\system32. At this time, the expected effect can be achieved by modification.

Fourth, modify the Windows XP startup screen
If you want to use your own modified boot screen, do not hit the April KB890859 patch
1, first we need a tool software, I use ResHacker, you can go here to download one. Of course eXescope is fine, but I feel that ResHacker is more convenient.
2, find the ntoskrnl.exe file, usually located in the c:\\windows\\system32 directory. Copy two copies, one for backup and one for editing.
3, use RegHacker to open the ntoskrnl.exe file for editing, find the first item: Bitmap\\1\\2052, and then select the menu to save as 1.bmp. Save the 8th (Bitmap\\8\\2052) as 8.bmp in the same way.
4, open the 1.bmp file with Photoshop, this time the picture is all black. Then press the image --> mode --> color table, load the 16.act file, OK, you should now be able to see the image.
5, after editing each, press the image --> mode --> color table, load win.pal, this time the picture should be black again, save.
6, in RegHacker replace the corresponding file in ntoskrnl.exe with the edited 1.bmp and 8.bmp files. Open the ResHacker "Operation" menu, find "Replace Bitmap", find the saved 1.bmp file in "Open New Bitmap File", select "Open"-->"Replace", and finally save ntoskrnl.exe file.
7, do not enter the safe mode, replace the edited ntoskrnl.exe with *:\\windows\\system32\ toskrnl.exe and *:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\dllcache\ toskrnl.exe with the replacement system file tool, restart, You're done.
Note: *:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\dllcache\\ may not have ntoskrnl.exe this file, no need to replace it.
Note: the boot screen only supports 16 colors, if you want to change the picture to find some 16-color pictures to do it, you must first back up the system before replacement, to avoid errors
If you want to modify the installation file you must modify i386 The sp2.cab file in the folder
1. Use WINRAR to decompress sp2.cab, modify the ntkrnlmp.exe, ntkrnlpa.exe, ntkrpamp.exe, ntoskrnl.exe, and the modification methods of these files are the same as above. The same, the changes should be consistent,
2. Follow all the files that have been extracted (a total of 335 files, including the modified four files) with the system's own IExpress 2.0 (if you can't read E, here) There is a Chinese IExpress 2.0) compressed back to sp2.cab,
3. Replace the sp2.cab that was just modified with sp2.cab in the i386 folder,
4. Download: ModifyPE 0.81, extract all files Go out and put the modified ntoskrnl.exe, ntkrnlmp.exe and ModifyPE.exe in the same folder, open a command line window, go to the folder containing the three files, and run: modifyPE.exe ntoskrnl .exe -c then run...makecab ntoskrnl.exe after this After processing, you get a compressed ntoskrnl.ex_ file (this is the makecab purpose of this command). The next thing you need to do is copy ntoskrnl.ex_ to your i386 directory and overwrite the existing files. (ntkrnlmp.exe works just like ntoskrnl.exe once)
Because we processed the ntoskrnl.exe file with modifyPE software, this will change the CRC information of the file, and the Windows XP installer will not ignore the copy. The file is up and the installer will use the file directly without any inquiries.
However, when the Windows installer finishes running, the event will be logged in the setuperr.log log file, so that the file is not digitally signed by Microsoft. There is no Microsoft original ntoskrnl.exe file in the dllcache directory and CD, but don't worry, so the system will not replace the modified file with the original version of Microsoft.
