WinXP common system service introduction (2)

adjustment suggestions and manual recovery

Finally, on the service adjustment, give some suggestions:

1. Do not use msconfig To disable some services, enter "Services.msc" in the "Run" dialog box to enter the service management interface adjustment.

2. Before disabling any service, select a service and then view the information about the service displayed to avoid misuse.

3. According to your settings, if the startup type of a service is set to manual, it will not run automatically after the system is started. If you find this practice makes you feel inconvenient, you can set the relevant service startup type to automatic.

4. After each adjustment of your service settings, it is best to restart your computer.

5. Don't worry if you have or don't have some of the services mentioned above in your system. Because some services only appear in certain states or after you install some hardware and software.

6. By disabling the secondary service, you can save about 12 to 70MB of memory space by default, but it also depends on your system environment.

7. In fact, there are 36 defaults that are automatically started, but in the smallest case, only 8 will keep XP running.

Finally, if you accidentally disable an important service, the Windows system will not start, so you can't re-enable the corresponding service, which creates a vicious circle. In this case we can only use the console to manually recover, in the console you can freely enable any service or control service startup type. Insert the WinXP installation CD into the CD-ROM drive, and then set the CD-ROM drive to the first boot drive in the BIOS. Start the computer into the "Welcome to the Installer" interface, press the "R" button to enter the Windows XP "Recovery Console" page, the system will list the Windows XP system in the computer, select the system to be repaired, and type management Password. The commands we use here are "Enable" and "Disable". The format of the Enable command is "enable [service_name ] [startup_type]", the format of the Disable command is "disable [service_name]", where [service_name] is the service or device name that you want to enable/disable, and [startup_type] is the startup type. Indicates different startup types. There are 5 types available: SERVICE_DISABLED, SERVICE_BOOT_START, SERVICE_SYSTEM_START, SERVICE_AUTO_START, and SERVICE_DEMAND_START.

Below we will disable the Messenger service in the console as an example, first set the startup type of the service to disabled, and then re-enable it. Enter the console, first run listsvc to view the running status of various system services, here you should see the Messenger service is started. Type "disable messenger" and press Enter. At this point, the Messenger service has been disabled, but it can still be seen by the listsvc command. If you want to re-enable the service and set the service to run automatically with the system, you need to enter "enable messenger ser-vice_boot_start" and press Enter.
