Use Group Policy to manage Windows XP

Xiaoyu installed a WinXP system on a unit equipped with Win2k (Win2k installed on the C drive, WinXP installed on the E drive), not long after, the trouble came, because the two systems can each other Accessing the files on the other party's partition, and the love machine is not a single fool, and there are many rookies to visit frequently. Some rookies often accidentally delete important files on another operating system when they are playing. The result is that another system crashes. How to do? What do you say? Of course, it’s hard work for you. Everyone is a colleague. You can still ……

After several such tossings, Xiaoyu thinks: “Let’s find a way to deal with these rookies. If this continues, it is not just a system crash, I have to collapse! ” But what is the best way? Xiaoyu invited to the "old bird" dongdong.

Dongdong: Don't let the rookies play around?

Xiaoyu: Not good, not good, this can affect the relationship between colleagues, and then, some rookies are my leader.

Dongdong: Give everyone a wake-up call and ask them not to delete files.

Xiaoyu: Well, it’s not good, not afraid of 10,000, just in case!

……

Dongdong: With, isolate the partitions where the two systems are located so that they cannot access each other.

Xiaoyu: Great, I just want to be like this.

Dongdong: Well, let me teach you a trick, using the "Group Policy" provided by Win2k/WinXP to achieve, simple and practical.

Xiaoyu: What is “Group Policy”?

Dongdong: "Group Policy" is a management unit used by Win2k/WinXP to help users customize their computer. It has the same powerful functions as the "Registry Editor" but uses It's much more convenient than the "Registry Editor"

Xiaoyu: Then let's talk about how to operate it!

Dongdong: Don't worry, let's take a look at the arrangement of your hard disk partition.

Xiaoyu: My hard drive is IBM Tenglong three generations of 30G, divided into four areas, C, D, E, F, are NTFS format, Win2k system and its application software installed in C drive, WinXP And its application software is installed in the E disk. D and F are used to store data.

Dongdong: Fortunately, you didn't put two systems on one partition.

Xiaoyu: I am still not so "food".

Dongdong: Then let's get started.

Start WinXP system first, log in as the computer administrator user.

Xiaoyu: Ok, no problem, the user I am currently logged into belongs to the administrator group.

Dongdong: Let's do what I said below!

1. Click the "Start” button, select “Run", enter “gpedit.msc” in the dialog box, then click “OK", open “Group Policy Editor”.

2. In the left pane of the "Group Policy" window, open “User Configuration”—“Administrative Templates&>—“Windows Components”—“Windows Resources Manager”.

3. In the right pane, find the <quo;Hide & lsquo; My Computer & rsquo; these specified drives & rdquo; items, double-click to open.

4. In the pop-up dialog box, select the “Enabled” item, and then select “ in the list of drives under it, only limit drive C”, then click “OK”.

5, found in the right pane & ldquo; prevent from the & lsquo; my computer & rsquo; access drive & rdquo; items, double-click to open.

6. In the pop-up dialog box, select the “Enabled” item, and then select “ in the list of drives under it, only limit drive C”, then click “OK”.

7. Close the “Group Policy” window.

7. Close the “Group Policy” window.

(4) In the pop-up dialog box, select “Change”, and then select a new drive letter for the partition, such as the Z drive.

(5), repeat steps (3), (4), change the partition where the original E disk is located (system partition of WinXP) to D drive.

(6), repeat steps (3), (4), and change the above Z disk to E disk.

Dongdong: Yes, that's it. I didn't expect you to be quite skilled in this move. Let's know what to do.

Xiao Yu: No Problem. Open the “Group Policy” window and follow the 3, 4, 5, and 6 steps you mentioned to do it again (select “ only limit drive D”).

Dongdong: Right, right. Sure enough, the Confucian can teach!

Xiaoyu: Winning prizes.

Dongdong: How, I am right, use group strategy to solve your troubles, is it very simple!

Xiaoyu: It’s not that it’s “old bird”, it’s easy to get it. Now, I don't have to worry about the rookie deleting my files.

Dongdong: Good, look at your humility and good learning, and give you some tips:

1. When installing dual systems, it is best to install two systems in different ways. On the partition.

2, group policy only Win2K and WinXP, Win9X does not support.

3, if Win9X and Win2k or WinXP coexist, Win9X can be installed in the FAT32 partition, Win2k or WinXP is installed in the NTFS partition, and then set the Win9X partition in Win2k or WinXP using Group Policy. Hide and block access. Because Win9X itself does not support access to the NTFS file system, it can also achieve dual system isolation.
