Teach you to add "read-only" attribute to USB in Windows XP

There is a really nice new feature in Windows XP: Add the “read-only' property to the USB storage device. The specific implementation method is as follows: Enter the registry editor, find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSet ControlStorageDevicePolicies item, if there is no item, please create a new one, then create a new DWORD value named WriteProtect in the right window (as shown in Figure 1), the value of the key Assigned to “1”, exit the program or refresh to take effect.

In the future, if you write data to a USB storage device, the dialog box shown in Figure 2 will pop up, prompting that “the media is protected by write”, so you don't have to worry about the important data being saved being mishandled. If you need to remove the read-only property, just re-enter the Registry Editor and re-assign the WriteProtect value to “0”
