Slamming crazy Windows messenger ads

Many friends who use Windows NT/2000/XP and other operating systems have recently received an inexplicable, automatically pop-up "message service" window, which has a wide range of content, illegal advertisements, Porn dating, reactionary remarks... and even transfer work (Figure 1).

The reason for this is that the Windows NT/2000/XP operating system automatically starts its own Messenger service when it is powered on. It can receive and send pop-up messages to other computers, and this function is used. Malware exploits, sends spam to other computers on the Internet, and displays the content directly on the other computer's screen (so terrible). These malware can automatically search for an IP address segment and send messages to each of them. Some software even claims: “You can scan tens of thousands of IP addresses per hour”, “to reach hundreds of millions of computers worldwide” It can be described as a moment.

Since these malicious programs are sent using the Messenger service, we can prevent Windows from receiving messenger advertisements as long as we turn off the Messenger service. There are three ways:

First, manual prohibition

In Windows 2000, click “ Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> & rdquo;, then double-click "Administrative Tools - 〉Services rdquo;, open the service control program, find the “Messenger” item,

Double-click the item, click the “Stop” button (stop the service that has already started), and change the “Startup Type” For "Disabled" (The next time you start Windows, the service will no longer automatically start and cannot be activated by other programs unless you manually change it to “automatic" or "manual”). Then click the “OK” button.

Second, disable in Msconfig

If you feel that the above manual operation is very troublesome, you can download a separate system configuration utility MSconfig.exe (download address: http://download. Pchome.net/system/treak/11873.html). It is stripped from Windows XP and can be used under Win2000.

Run the program, click on the "Services" tab, find the "Messenger" item, cancel the check mark (Figure 3), and click "OK". Restart the computer and the Messenger service is no longer automatically run with the system.

Third, use 3721 Internet Assistant to prohibit

However, using MScongfig.exe is still more troublesome, the easiest way is to use 3721 Internet Assistant. Visit the online assistant website assistant.3721.com (click "“ in the prompt dialog box that pops up", install the Internet Assistant), click on the "Messenger Intercept" link to enter the corresponding function page, as shown in Figure 3: >

Simply click on “turn off the messenger function",“open messenger function” to set it accordingly.

Tip: On the assistant.3721.com page, press and hold the "message ad blocker" link and drag it to the desktop to create a shortcut to the page. Double-click the shortcut to enter the page, which is very convenient.

Well, with the above three methods, I believe that you will be able to successfully attack SMS harassment from Windows Messenger.
