Windows XP Tips - Installation

Windows XP is widely used as a user-oriented operating system. However, there are still a lot of skills in the XP system that are not known. Today, I will come and learn these skills with everyone.

Installation:

The most annoying thing for me is to install the system, especially when I install Windows XP, I have to stare at the screen for more than 30 minutes, but I only need to do it for a while. Characters, a few mouse clicks, in order to get rid of the role of "Janitor", the author finally found a solution after searching, that is, unattended installation method suitable for personal needs.

1. Hard disk installation

1) Format a floppy disk in pure DOS with the format A:/s command.

2) Create a Config.sys file on the floppy disk and edit the command line:

device=C:\\windows\\himem.sys

(for loading Windows system information file himem.sys, so that DOS system can automatically run smartdrv.exe.)

3), create Autoexec.bat file on the floppy disk, and edit the command line:

C :\\windows\\smartdrv.exe

F:\\i386\\winnt/u:i386\\UNATTEND.TXT /sF:\\i386 /t:D:

(F is the installation folder I386 The logical disk, D is the logical disk of Windows XP, the fully automatic installation answer file created by Windows Installation Manager mentioned in unattend.txt)

4), the startup sequence of the computer in CMOS Set to boot from floppy disk, hard disk, or CD.

5), use the floppy disk to boot, when the green light is off, remove the floppy disk, then the computer will automatically complete the installation.

2, CD installation

Note: xxx in mscdxxx in Config.sys and Autoexec.bat can be any character, but they must be the same .

5) Put the floppy disk and the CD into the machine, and set the boot order of the computer to be booted by CD or floppy disk in CMOS.

6) After the floppy disk light is illuminated twice (the second time is the system is looking for and reading the answer file unattend.txt in the floppy disk), the floppy disk is removed, and then the computer will automatically complete the installation.

3, the production of the answer file

The following is a brief introduction to the production of the answer file unattend.txt mentioned earlier. Locate the Deploy.CAB file in the SUPPORT /Tools directory of the installation disk and unzip it to execute the solved setupmgr.exe program. In the pop-up dialog box, perform the next step to select the new answer file, and then select the installation method. The next task is to operate according to your own configuration habits.
