ADSL causes the mystery of Windows XP system

In the days of "close contact" with ADSL, you may encounter such a strange phenomenon, that is, after installing ADSL in Windows XP system, each time you start ADSL virtual When the dial-up software performs dial-up Internet access, the Windows XP system will "consciously" enter the suspended animation state. It takes about one minute for the virtual dialing window to be automatically popped up. So how does this fake state of the Windows XP system occur? How do we take corresponding measures to eliminate such a dial-up state, thus improving the efficiency of virtual dialing? The following content of this article will reveal to you the mystery of the system's suspended animation, and will also give you a few tricks to help you quickly eliminate the system's suspended animation.

reveal the mystery of suspended animation system

in the default installation state, windows xp operating system will automatically NIC TCP /IP parameters, set to automatically obtain the status of; once Windows XP system After the startup is successful, it will automatically detect the configuration parameters of the network card to see if the IP address of the network card is static. If the static IP address of the network card cannot be found, the Windows XP system will automatically send out broadcast information to request the local area network. The DHCP server can assign a dynamic IP address to the current workstation; if it cannot be successfully connected to the DHCP server on the LAN, the Windows XP system will use the private IP address automatic addressing function to assign a special to the current workstation. IP address, which is usually located in the network segment "169.254.0.1~169.254.255.254".

Now when the virtual dial-up operation is performed, since the ADSL Modem has automatically stopped the DHCP function by default, the ADSL Modem cannot assign a dynamic IP address to the current workstation's network card in time. And when the Windows XP system has a suspended animation phenomenon, you may wish to observe carefully that the data signal light in the Adsl Modem control panel is blinking continuously. When the data signal light stops flashing, the system's suspended animation phenomenon is automatically eliminated; this time, Click the "Start" /"Run" command, enter the "ipconfig /all" string command in the open system run box, and then click the "OK" button, you will see the current in the subsequent results window The IP address of the workstation is an address in the network segment "169.254.0.1~169.254.255.254". From the above analysis, we can easily see that the reason why Windows XP system will be suspended in Adsl dialing, mainly because the current workstation's network card can not get IP address in time, so if we specify the IP address in advance for the network card, windows The xp system will not have a suspended animation during virtual dialing. In front of suspended animation deal with the tactics

system we have already mentioned, in order to eliminate the phenomenon of suspended animation windows xp system, you must assign an appropriate IP address for the network card current workstation in a timely manner; to to do this, you can use the following methods to achieve:

1, enable the built-in DHCP functionality

Although many types of Adsl Modem have the DHCP function integrated into the device, but in By default, the DHCP function of many devices is not enabled; in fact, as long as the built-in DHCP server function is enabled, the network card connected to the Adsl Modem device can obtain a dynamic IP address in time. To enable the built-in DHCP function, follow the steps below:

First, you need to open the parameter setting page of Adsl Modem. Considering that the default IP address of many ADSL MODEM devices is 192.168.1.1, you may wish to open the IE browser, and then directly enter the "http://192.168.1.1" string address in the address box of IE, click it back. After the car key, the screen will automatically pop up a “Enter Network Password” login interface (as shown in Figure 1);

Figure 1

If you are in the IE address box After entering the previous address, if the login window shown in Figure 1 cannot be displayed, you can open the operation manual provided by Adsl Modem and check whether the default IP address of the device is "192.168.1.1". If not, You can re-enter the correct access address in the IE address box, so that the login screen shown in Figure 1 will pop up on the screen;

Next, you correctly enter the account name and access password for logging in to the ADSL device. And click the "OK" button to enter the parameter setting window of the ADSL device; click the "LAN" tab in the settings window, and then in the label setting page shown in Figure 2, click " DHCP mode" Drop-down button and select the "DHCP Server" option from the drop-down menu that appears ever since, and finally click click "submit" button, so ADSL equipment built-in DHCP functionality was officially launched. Of course, in order for this function to take effect, you need to go to the “Administration” tab page in the parameter setting window of the ADSL device, select the “Save” option to save the previously set parameters, and restart the ADSL device.

Once the above setting operation is completed, the Windows XP system sends a DHCP request to the Adsl Modem once it requests a packet with an IP address. The server can quickly assign a suitable IP address to the current workstation's network card, so that in the virtual dial-up operation, the windows xp system will not have a suspended animation.

Comments: This method is only suitable for the administrator user of the Adsl device. For those who are not familiar with the operation and maintenance of the Adsl device, please do not enter the parameter configuration interface of the Adsl device at will, so as not to mistake the parameters, resulting in the Adsl device. In the future, it will not work properly and efficiently.
