Windows XP Program Compatibility Wizard feature

  

Many people now use the Windows XP operating system. Its gorgeous interface and stable performance have been recognized by everyone. Recently, I don't know where I want to play some old games. I can install them to know that they don't support Windows XP. In fact, Windows XP has long considered this problem, and added a new function in the operating system “ program compatibility wizard & rdquo;, we will use the old game as an example to introduce its use.

First click on the menu "Start - All Programs - Accessories - Program Compatibility Wizard", click "“Next" in the pop-up dialog box to run the "Program Compatibility Wizard". (Figure 1)

If the game or program you want to install cannot be installed under Windows XP, then select "I want to use the program in the CD-ROM drive" to do the following operations; The game or program can be installed in Windows XP but it can't run, then select “ I want to select ” from the list of programs. Generally, the latter situation is more. After selecting, click “Next”. (Figure 2)

In the list of programs, the operating system will list all installed programs, we select the program to be set, and then click “Next”. The next step is to choose which operating system can run normally in this game. Generally, the old games can run in Windows 98, so choose "Microsoft Windows 98/Windows Me" in this game. (Figure 3)

The old game is mostly 640× 480 and 256 colors display mode, it can't run in higher color and resolution, disable visual theme to overcome Windows XP's visual theme affects old games, so here we have three checkboxes to choose from. (Figure 4)

After completing the basic settings above, you will start testing the game. Click the “Next” button to start the game test. (Figure 5)

Since the game will start after the test, you should select the next setting according to the running situation of the game: the program runs normally and selects the first item; the game does not run normally, try other The second item is selected for the setting; the third item is selected regardless of whether the game is running normally or not. If we select the first or third item in the above step, then we will enter this setting interface. Under normal circumstances, select “ld”; no & rdquo; (Figure 7)

Now the entire game-compatible wizard process is complete. If you want to adjust or remove this compatibility setting, you can re-run the program compatibility wizard.
