Problems and solutions in Win XP network connection

The previous paragraph in the forum I often see a lot of questions about Windows XP connection and login problems (most of which are similar to win2003). Here I will give you an analysis of the solutions to these problems.

1. Always display the error message "Unauthorized user request login type on this computer" (Login win2000winxpwin2003)

Error message "No access to resources" (Login Win98)

Cause: It is the guest's permission to log in from the network in the user rights in the policy, and the error mentioned in (2).

(Note: XP default, win2003 is not default)

Solution: Configure local security policy: Security settings Local policy user rights allocation in the "reject access to this computer from the network", put The guest can be deleted and saved.

2, the system login window is logged in as the guest user by default, can not be changed

Cause: It is the default authentication mode of "local account sharing and security mode" in network access in XP security policy. It is the local user who authenticates as a guest, that is, the same person, the visitors are all "guests". (If XP joins the domain, it defaults to local user self-authentication, and the interactive login for telnet and terminal service login is invalid) (Note: XP default, win2003 is not default)

Solution: Open Local Security Policy Security Set local policy security options to change this policy setting.

3. The login window appears, but you cannot log in regardless of the user.

Cause: The guest account is disabled, and the "Network Access: Sharing and Security Mode for Local Account" security option is set to "Guest only." At this point, those network logins performed by the Microsoft Network Server (SMB Service) will fail. Even if you know that the admin user and password are useless, all logins are unresponsive. (This situation seems to ask more people)

Solution: Change the prohibition mentioned above. For example, activate guest user, set "local account sharing and security mode" to classic mode.

4, there is a login window, know the administrator name of an XP, the password is empty (XP does not prompt to establish a password when installing, but can not log in.) There is always a "User Account Limit" error message, and a similar prompt appears for the login terminal service.

Cause: For security reasons, the local security policy defaults to "Local account with blank password only allows console login" That is, you can only log in locally, you can only log in through the keyboard connected to the computer, and you cannot log in as a non-physical contact. Some people may say that I tried to log in with a user whose password is empty, or log in. That's because the guest user has no ban. After your user fails to log in, it automatically tries with the guest user. If the share is allowed, you can log in. Otherwise, it will not work.

Workaround: Turn on the Local Security Policy Security Settings Local Policy Security option to disable this setting. It is recommended to keep this default security setting.

Funnyly, Microsoft says applications that use remote interactive logins "may" ignore this setting, and that this setting does not affect logins using domain accounts.

In summary, XP has put more effort into security, and the majority of users who are used to 2000 are not suitable for a while. Having said that, XP has already thought of some convenient methods for us, but many of our friends have not used it. Because XP is by default for your personal use, there is no connection to the network. When you want to connect to the network, in fact, as long as you run the "Network Installation Wizard", in the process of this wizard, it will open several default items of XP (such as guest activation, policy in the guest prohibits the list from the network login Delete), and when you remove the XP default "Use simple file sharing" option in the folder properties, the security option mentioned in point 3 (network access: local account sharing and security mode) is Settings set to "Guest only" will also be changed to Classic mode. So, it is recommended that you use this installation wizard, as well as some of the commonly used property settings to restore the network connection we used to use 2000. The so-called security policy It's just the centralized performance of these settings and the refinement of management. I hope that you can combine some of the problems and solutions mentioned above to solve the problems encountered in your xp connection.
