Hard disk formatting patterns can also be low-level format

We usually choose to format when the hard disk encounters a problem, but there are many kinds of formatting of the hard disk. Many users do not know which format to choose. Generally speaking, if the hard disk is physically difficult to repair, the only thing you can do is to replace it, but there is one last method to try before replacing it, which is low-level formatting. The role of low-level formatting is to divide a blank magnetic disk into tracks of different concentric circles and different radii, and divide the track into several sectors, each of which has a capacity of 512 bytes. It should be noted here that low-level formatting is a high-loss operation of the hard disk, which will greatly shorten the service life of the hard disk. Therefore, it is not recommended to perform low-level formatting if it is not necessary.

There are two ways to perform low-level formatting. One is through the functions supported by the motherboard BIOS, but the current motherboards generally do not have secondary functions. Or use proprietary software, of which DM is one of them.

The default startup DM is not capable of low-level formatting. You need to open the DM's advanced menu. You can add the parameter "dm/m" during startup or press "ld+M"" in the main interface of the DM to switch to the advanced menu.

Select “(M)aintenance Options” in the menu to enter the advanced menu.

Then select “(U)tilits” to enter the low-level formatting interface.

Then select the hard disk you need to format low-level. If you only have one hard disk, you can press Enter directly. If there are multiple needs, you can choose from them.

After selecting the hard disk, then select “Low Level Format” for low-level formatting.

This is a window that will pop up a warning. You need to confirm by pressing “Alt+C”.

After confirmation, a window will be displayed for you to confirm again, select “YES”.

After the selection is completed, the low-level formatting of the hard disk is started, and the progress is displayed in percentage.

Low-level formatting is a time-consuming task, depending on the size of your hard drive and the damage to your hard drive. Remind everyone again that low-level formatting is a malfunction of the hard disk, and it is best not to do it.

Today, I have another lesson. The original format can not be used indiscriminately, so everyone should take a good look, don't make mistakes, I hope to help everyone.
