WinXP system broadband application skills [Photos]

Nowadays, there are more and more friends using high-speed Internet access such as ADSL and LAN. For example, the LAN mode provided by the city where the author is located has unlimited broadband access (but the traffic is limited to 512KB). 80 yuan, it is really a pleasure. If you have upgraded to the Windows XP operating environment, then the following broadband tips are a must: 1. Check the broadband connection status
Just open the “ dial-up network from “Start/Control Panel” ” window, as shown in Figure 1, you can see that an available connection has been established under "LAN or high-speed Internet connection", the default name of this available connection is "local connection", in order to use Conveniently, I have renamed it to “Broadband Connection”. Double-click the icon or execute the “Status” command from the shortcut menu to see a window like the one shown in Figure 2. From here you can see the status of this connection (whether it is connected), duration (connected Many useful parameters such as time) and speed.

2. Disconnect Broadband Connections
I use LAN LAN to access broadband Internet access. I don't need a dial-up connection every time. I can access the Internet when I turn it on. It is very convenient. Some friends who want to temporarily disconnect the broadband connection, but can't find the "Disconnect" command from the shortcut menu, do you want to unplug the network cable? Of course not needed, we can right-click "local connection", execute the "deactivate" command in the shortcut menu, so that you can disconnect. When you want to connect again later, just execute the "Enable" command. However, after testing, I found that when the broadband connection is disabled, the connection is easy to fail when it is enabled again. At this time, the “fix” command can be executed.

3. Using the built-in firewall
In the "Properties" window, click on the “Advanced” tab, as shown in Figure 3, check “by limiting or blocking from Internet access to this computer to protect my computer and network & rdquo; check box, you can get a free firewall protection, why not?

4. Realizing Broadband ICS Now that broadband has been used, why not let other computers in your home enjoy it? Below, the author introduces friends to some of the techniques for implementing broadband ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) in Windows XP through an example: (1) Guarantee ICS from hardware
First, we must physically connect the computer ( Here I take the desktop and laptop computers in my home as an example. For the average home user, it is relatively simple to set up a peer-to-peer network, which means that each computer can communicate directly with each other, so that it can be One of the services that ICS can implement is to implement resource sharing in the case of a dedicated server. Simply put, you need to prepare the network card, five types of twisted pair, crystal head and other things. When making the connector of the network cable, please pay attention to the direction and line arrangement. If you are not sure, you can refer to the previous report. Article, or simply ask the technical staff of the computer company to help you with the network cable, so you can avoid a lot of trouble. (2) Set up a peer-to-peer network
Each computer should have a network card installed. The computer that is the ICS host should have two network cards (preferably the desktop as the host), one of which is connected to the broadband network, and the other is connected to the broadband network. One piece is connected to the laptop through the network cable, and the driver for the network card is installed separately. WindowsXP can automatically identify the vast majority of network cards, and also need to add protocols such as TCP/IP, NWLinkIPX/SPX/NetBIOSCompatibleTransport, NWLinkNetBIOS, etc. to the two computers. you can right-click on & ldquo; My Network Places & rdquo; & rarr; & ldquo; properties & rdquo; & rarr; & ldquo; local Area connection & rdquo; & rarr; & ldquo; properties & rdquo; & rarr; & ldquo; installation & rdquo; & rarr; & ldquo; agreement & rdquo; in progress. If all goes well, you can quickly see the other party's computer in "Network Neighborhood" (as shown in Figure 4).

Description: Under normal circumstances, Windows XP will automatically configure the IP address, no longer need to be manually configured. (3) Configuring the ICS Host
Before configuring, you need to confirm that there is an active Internet connection on the ICS host (that is, the desktop), that is, check if the ICS host can access the Internet. Then, you can click on “Control Panel”→“Network Connection”→“Network Task"Select “Set Home or Small Office Network> Task, then “Network Installation Wizard will appear” & rdquo; prompt window, tell you some network installation wizard notes, click twice after the "Next" button will appear the window shown in Figure 5, this step is more critical, please friends carefully.

Now we should choose the first item & ldquo; This computer is directly connected to the Internet. Other computers on my network connect to the Internet through this computer & rdquo ;, then continue to click & ldquo; Next & rdquo ;, a window appears select the right Internet connection shown in Figure 6 (as ICS host has two network cards, thus phase correspondence also has two Internet connections, a connection to the broadband network, the other is connected to a laptop computer), if you really could not tell, then, you can go to & ldquo; control panel /network connections & rdquo; take a look at a glance. The following steps can leave it, all the way to press the & ldquo; Next & rdquo; on it until 7 window, where you need to select & ldquo; create a network installation disk & rdquo ;, prompted, insert a blank floppy disk, according to the wizard prompts to create a network installation disk.

At this point, the ICS host has been fully configured. (4) Configuring the ICS Client
Now, we can insert the network installation disk we just created on the desktop into the floppy drive of the laptop, then double-click “My Computer” to find “3.5 inches”. The floppy disk (A:) & rdquo; netsetup.exe & rdquo; file double-click, the first thing you see is a welcome window, telling you "before you continue, Windows must install some network support files, and may restart the computer. If you are running Windows XP, the wizard will start immediately. Continue anyway? ”, of course, click "Yes (Y)” After clicking the "Next" button twice, select "Yes" to use the existing shared connection for Internet access (recommended) for this computer. The selection here is exactly the same as on the previous ICS host. In contrast to Figure 6, do friends still remember? After clicking the “Next” button, the wizard gives two choices "On my decision to connect properly" and "Let me choose the connection to my network". From the author's personal experience, it is recommended that friends choose the latter, so that the degree of freedom is greater, click “Next” and then select the connection to connect this computer to other network computers according to the actual situation in Figure 8. Then, just click on the default settings a few times > next step" to end the work of the Network Setup Wizard.

Ok, now I’ll try it on my laptop. Can I open IE to browse the web and run QQ? As long as your original "network neighbors" can see each other, then ICS should be no problem. Note: In order to ensure the smooth implementation of ICS, two computers are required to use the same version of the operating system, which can reduce a lot of trouble. How about, after such a simple setup, surfing on the broadband fast lane is more comfortable?
