How can I solve the "can't add fonts" issue?

Solution for the control panel can not install new fonts

Under the xp system, many friends may have encountered such a situation: when installing fonts, copy the fonts to C:\\WINDOWS\\Fonts, There should be no "install new fonts" that should pop up, so that the fonts copied into the folder cannot be used. After opening the "Control Panel/Fonts", it is found that "newly installed fonts" are gone, and new fonts cannot be installed. How to solve this problem?

There are three reasons for this:

1. The properties of the Fonts folder are not "system" and "read-only" (Fonts file The folder attribute must be system and read-only).

Solution: Start running cmd carriage return

Enter attrib +s+rc:\\windows\\Fonts

Shut down, then re-enter Windows, font folder can be restored Normal.

2. The Desktop.ini file under C:\\Windows\\Fonts is corrupted.

Create a new file under the C:\\WINDOWS\\Fonts folder <desktop.ini”, open it with Notepad, and type the following:

[.ShellClassInfo]

UICLSID={BD84B380-8CA2-1069-AB1D-08000948F534}

Then change the file name to desktop.ini, change the file attribute to: read-only, hidden, restart the machine and re-install the font.

Principle: C:\\WINDOWS\\Fonts under xp system is a special folder. Even if all the files are selected in the tool-folder option, the configuration file under this folder is “desktop.” Ini” still can't be displayed. Open the method only by entering C:\\WINDOWS\\Fonts\\desktop.ini in the address bar to display it. So I didn't think this configuration file was lost when dealing with the problem. Many friends often search when optimizing the system. All desktop.ini is deleted, so deleting the file by mistake can cause the font to fail to be installed.

3. The Fontext.dll file under C:\\Windows\\System is corrupted.

Solution: Download fontext.rarUnzip to c:\\windows\\system32 to solve
