Setting up a connection to Remote Desktop in Windows XP

  


Added the Remote Desktop Connection feature in Windows XP. With Remote Desktop Connection, users can connect computers from other locations to the desktop of the local computer and execute them on the local computer. It is very convenient and practical to use a local computer to connect to a computer desktop in another location and execute programs on other computers.
12.7.1 Setting up a remote desktop connection
To set up a remote desktop connection, the user must first establish a connection with the Internet or set up a terminal server on the local area network.
Before making a remote desktop connection, users need to make some settings for the remote desktop connection, as follows: (1) Click the “Start” button to select “All Programs” & “Orders”. ∣"Communication"""Remote Desktop Connection” command. (2) Open the "Remote Desktop Connection" dialog box, as shown in Figure 12.31.
(3) Click the “Options" button to expand the dialog box.
(4) Select the “General” tab, as shown in Figure 12.32.

(5) & ldquo in; login settings & rdquo; option group & ldquo; Computer & rdquo; text box to be the name of the computer remote desktop connection; in & ldquo; username & rdquo; text box login Username used; enter the user's login password in the “Password” text box; enter the domain name to be logged in in the “Domain” field; if the user wants to save the password, select “Save Secret”. Check box.
(6) Click the “Save as” button in the “Connection Settings” option group to save the current settings. After saving, the user can click the “Open” button. Open to save the settings.
(7) Click the “Connect” button to connect to the remote desktop.
(8) At this time, the “Login to” dialog box will pop up, as shown in Figure 12.33.

(9) in the dialog box & ldquo; username & rdquo; Name text box, enter the login user; in & ldquo; password & rdquo; text box, enter the password; in & ldquo; Log on to & rdquo; drop-down Select the domain to log in to the list.
(10) Click the “OK" button to log in to the desktop of the computer, as shown in Figure 12.34.

(11) after a successful login, the user can use the Remote Desktop program in the various operations carried out.
Note: The remote desktop that the author chooses to log in uses the Windows 2000 server operating system. The remote desktop that the user logs in may vary depending on the operating system used by the other party. The user's use of the program in the remote desktop does not affect the normal operation of the computer.
12.7.2 Setting the Display Mode of Remote Desktop Connection
By default, the remote desktop connection is displayed in full screen mode. Users can change their display size to display it at 800*600 pixels or 640*480. Pixel display, you can also change the color display mode of the remote desktop, its operation is as follows:
(1) Click the "Start” button, select “All Programs"∣";Accessories>;∣“Communication&rdquo ;∣“Remote Desktop Connection” command, open the "Remote Desktop Connection" dialog box.
(2) Click the “options” button to expand the dialog.
(3) Select the “Display” tab as shown in Figure 12.35.

(4) in the & ldquo; remote desktop size & rdquo; option group, drag the slider to change the size of the remote desktop. Drag the slider to the far right to display it in full screen; drag the slider to the middle to display it at 800*600 pixels; drag the slider to the far left to display it at 640*480 pixels.
