Common methods for recovering WINDOWS failures (5)

7. Automatic System Recovery

ASR system is divided into two parts: ASR backup and restore ASR. The “ASR Wizard” in the ASR backup performs the backup function. The wizard backs up system state, system services, and all disks associated with operating system components. ASR also creates a file that contains information about backups, disk configurations (including basic and dynamic volumes), and how to perform restores. It is best to save the backup files to a floppy disk for future use.

For example: A laptop accidentally slips from the desktop to the ground, the boot prompt does not find the system disk (“System disk not found.”), first boot with 98 CD, execute scandisk to check the hard disk media is Ok, generally only reinstall and configure the network. Fortunately, users have used the ASP backup tool to back up system data to a floppy disk, and previously created a system restore point. Do not try it. Start with the XP CD. When the system prompts you in the text mode part of the installation process, press the F2 key to insert the floppy disk, and quickly find the backup floppy disk into the floppy disk drive. ASR reads the disk configuration from the file it creates, and it restores all disk signatures, volumes, and partitions on the disk needed to start the computer (at the lowest requirement). ASR then installs Windows in easy mode and automatically initiates the restore process using the backup created by the &Aquo;ASR Wizard”. After the hard drive slammed, restart the computer, but fortunately Windows XP was restored, but some data files were not restored.
8. Overwriting the Installation System

If you change critical hardware or change the BIOS of your motherboard, Windows XP may not boot properly. Overlay installation can solve this type of problem.

For example: A 440BX motherboard computer, XP system installed, users want to use 80G hard disk, and the motherboard's BIOS is too old does not support large hard disk, so download the latest BIOS of the motherboard, carefully refresh The BIOS of the motherboard, the process is successful, can also boot the system, but XP appears blue screen, crash. Obviously caused by the BIOS, so use the CD boot to cover the installation of Windows, no longer appear blue screen after reinstallation, the problem is solved.

Third, summary

This article discusses the idea of solving Windows startup failures, there is no special thing, just a summary of work experience, of course, there are other ways to help restore the system, such as Ghost and other means. In addition, if you need to restore data, the above method will not work, backup and recovery data requires another method, please refer to the "Backup Recovery" article of the classic collection of the celestial software channel.
