SM bus controller driver installation solution

When reinstalling the system, the installation of the SM bus controller driver often causes a lot of headaches because each bus controller driver is different. What is the bus controller? How to identify the SM bus controller driver, how to install it? I will give you a brief introduction.

What is the SM bus controller

The sm bus controller, also known as SMBus, is the abbreviation of System Management Bus, which is a communication controller on the motherboard control chip. It was proposed by Intel in 1995 and is used for low-rate communication in mobile PCs and desktop PC systems. It mainly hopes to control the devices on the motherboard and collect the corresponding information through an inexpensive and powerful bus (consisting of two wires). SMBus provides a control bus for tasks such as system and power management. With SMBus, messages are sent and received between devices via SMBus instead of a separate control line, which saves the device's pin count.

SM Bus Controller Driver Installation

The SM bus controller was introduced after Window XP. The operating system does not recognize such hardware well. It requires a separate driver for the Intel motherboard chipset. The program "Intel Software Installation Utility" can be found on the motherboard driver disk. The installation file name is usually infinst_autol.exe. If the device manager always sees that the sm bus controller driver is not installed (the sm bus controller has a yellow question mark before the word), this indicates that the motherboard chipset driver is not installed, you can download the motherboard chip from the corresponding website. Group driver, or you can buy the supporting motherboard CD that you bought from the computer into the CD-ROM drive, let Windows search for it.
