Common keyboard shortcuts in XP system

  

Windows XP works the same as when working in Windows, using shortcut keys instead of mouse. You can use keyboard shortcuts to open, close, and navigate to “Start”menu, desktop, menus, dialogs, and web pages. The keyboard also makes it easier to interact with your computer. Click a title or press the TAB key to highlight the title and press ENTER. First, the regular keyboard shortcuts Button Purpose Ctrl + C Copy. Ctrl + X Cut. Ctrl + V paste. Ctrl + Z Undo. DELETE delete. Shift + Delete permanently deletes the selected item without placing it in "Recycle Bin". Press CTRL while dragging an item to copy the selected item. Press CTRL + SHIFT while dragging an item to create a shortcut for the selected item. F2 Renames the selected item. CTRL + right arrow Moves the insertion point to the beginning of the next word. CTRL + left arrow Moves the insertion point to the beginning of the previous word. CTRL + Down Arrow Moves the insertion point to the beginning of the next paragraph. CTRL + Up Arrow Moves the insertion point to the beginning of the previous paragraph. CTRL + SHIFT + any arrow key Highlights a piece of text. SHIFT + any arrow key Select multiple items on the window or desktop, or select the text in the document. Ctrl + A Select all content. F3 Search for files or folders. Alt + Enter View the properties of the selected item. Alt + F4 Closes the current project or exits the current program. ALT + Enter Shows the properties of the selected object. Alt + Spacebar Opens a shortcut menu for the current window. Ctrl + F4 Closes the current document in a program that allows multiple documents to be opened at the same time. Alt + Tab toggles between open projects. Alt + Esc cycles through the items in the order they were opened. F6 Cycle through screen elements on a window or desktop. F4 displays the “Address" column list in "My Computer" and "Windows Explorer". Shift + F10 Displays the shortcut menu of the selected item. Alt + Spacebar Displays the “system” menu of the current window. Ctrl + Esc displays the “Start” menu. The underlined letters in the ALT + menu name show the corresponding menu. The underlined letter in the command name displayed on the open menu executes the corresponding command. F10 activates the menu bar in the current program. Right arrow key Opens the next menu on the right or opens a submenu. Left arrow key Opens the next menu on the left or closes the submenu. F5 refreshes the current window. BackSpace View the previous folder in “My Computer" or “Windows Explorer". Esc cancels the current task. Press the SHIFT key while inserting the disc into the CD-ROM drive to prevent the disc from playing automatically. Second, the dialog shortcuts Button Purpose Ctrl + Tab Move forward between tabs. Ctrl + Shift + Tab moves backwards between tabs. Tab moves forward between options. Shift + Tab moves backwards between options. ALT + underlined letters Execute the appropriate command or select the appropriate option. Enter Executes the command corresponding to the active option or button. Spacebar If the Live option is a check box, select or clear the check box. Arrow Keys When a live option is a set of option buttons, select a button. F1 shows help. F4 displays the items in the current list. BackSpace If a folder is selected in the “Save As” or “Open” dialog box, the previous folder will be opened. Natural Keyboard Shortcuts In the “Microsoft Natural Keyboard” or other compatible keyboards that include the Windows Logo Key (WIN) and the “Application” key (KEY), you can use the following shortcuts. Button Purpose WIN Shows or hides the "Start" menu. WIN+ BREAK displays the "System Properties" dialog. WIN+ D displays the desktop. WIN+ M minimizes all windows. WIN+ Shift + M Restores the minimized window. WIN+ E opens "My Computer". WIN+ F Search for files or folders. CTRL+WIN+ F Search for a computer. WIN+ F1 displays Windows Help. WIN+ L Locks your computer if you are connected to a network domain, or if you are not connected to a network domain. WIN+ R opens the "Run" dialog. KEY Displays the shortcut menu for the selected item. WIN+ U opens the "Tools Manager". 4. Auxiliary keyboard shortcuts Keys Purpose Right side SHIFT key for eight seconds Switch to “Filter key” on and off. ALT on the left + SHIFT + PRINT SCREEN on the left toggles the "high contrast" on and off. ALT on the left + SHIFT + NUM LOCK on the left toggles the "mouse button" on and off. Shift key five times to switch between & ldquo; sticky key & rdquo; on and off. Num Lock key for five seconds Switch between “ toggle key & rdquo; on and off. WIN+ U opens the <quo;Tool Manager”. <;Windows Explorer  Keyboard Shortcuts Keys Purpose END Displays the bottom of the current window. Home page Displays the top of the current window. The asterisk (*) of the NUM LOCK + numeric keypad displays all subfolders of the selected folder. The plus sign (+) of the NUM LOCK + numeric keypad displays the contents of the selected folder. The minus sign (-) of the NUM LOCK + numeric keypad collapses the selected folder. Left Arrow Folds the item when it is currently expanded, or selects its parent folder. Right arrow key Expands the item when the currently selected item is collapsed, or selects the first
