XP SP2 RC2 version number and release date secret

The release date of Windows XP SP2 RC2 has been repeatedly postponed, so various news about it is also emerging. There were rumors last weekend that Build 2144 was the second release candidate for XP SP2, but now the emergence of Build 2147 indicates that the version number of RC2 will be newer than 2144.

Build 2147 is not the first or only candidate to be selected for SP2 RC2. The first one that may have been released as RC2 is Build 2145, but it is said that it has been aborted without compiling in the lab. The second possible version of Build 2146 ended in a stagnation. Build 2147 was compiled at 12:35 on June 7. But as to whether it may be posted on RC2, it depends on the progress of the test. If there are any problems that need to be modified during the test, the compiled version number of RC2 may be upgraded from one or two numbers based on 2147.

It is understood that, compared to the Build 2142 or 2144, the amendments made by Build 2147 actually is not obvious. As for the release time, last week reported that Microsoft is stepping up the SP2 research and development work around the clock, hoping to launch it on June 7. As we have seen, the SP2 RC2 did not appear on June 7th. However, some sources said that Microsoft internally decided to launch the RC2 version on June 9.

The following are Windows XP SP2 Build "About Windows" shots, we can see 2147 from its compiled version number is Build 2147:
