Slimming Action: Give Windows XP SP2 System Weight Loss

The arrival of Windows XP SP2 makes our system more secure and brings many features that ordinary users don't need. Although the configuration of the computer is getting higher and higher, these functions that are not very useful still consume our system resources, causing the system to be used slowly. So, is there any way to remove these features? Have! Please see the two methods introduced by the author.

First, use the "Add /Remove Windows Components" function

for Windows XP SP2 provided a lot of services, we may function through the "Control Panel → Add or Remove Programs" And select "Add/Remove Windows Components" to uninstall a useless Windows system component.

Note: Not all Windows system components allow us to manually uninstall. Even if you open Add/Remove Programs, you won't be able to find their tracks. For example, "Windows Auto Update" and so on.

Second, clear Windows non-component files

After the above settings, we have uninstalled most of the useless Windows system components, the hard disk space occupied by the system has also dropped to hundreds of megabytes. We will continue to manually clean up useless Windows non-components.

Step 1: Open the system properties, select the best performance in the advanced performance options, turn off all Windows effects. So that you can easily delete Windows theme files. (Figure 17)

Step 2: In the “Explorer”, select “Tools→Folder Options→View”, remove “Hide Protected or Operating System Files” and check “Show All” file". (Figure 18)

Step 3: Open the X:\\Windows\\SYSTEM32 (X is the partition where the operating system is located) folder, delete the following file:

help (help file) Installer (installation File backup)

ime (Input method) LastGood.Tmp (last time correctly configured configuration)

inf (drive INF) All files in Resources (not including this folder)

Step 4: Go to X:\\Program Files\\Windows Media Player and delete all installation backup files under Installer.

Through the above two methods, Windows XP SP2 will not appear as bloated as the original, the system will run faster, if you are interested, you can try it!
