Solving the problem of high CPU usage in Windows XP system

There is a phenomenon that when a computer with Windows XP receives a connection request on port 445, Windows XP allocates memory and allocates a small amount of CPU resources to provide these connections. Service. When the connection request load is too heavy, the CPU usage may be too high, resulting in a sharp drop in system performance or even a suspended animation.

Reason for the problem:

This is due to the “proportional misalignment” between the number of Windows XP work items and the responsiveness. If there is a suitable MaxWorkitems setting, the system responsiveness can be improved.

Solution:

Click "Start" → "Run", enter "Regedit" in the run dialog box, click "OK", open the registry editor, and then expand the following sub-keys :HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\lanmanserver, create a new DWORD value named "Maxworkitems" in the right window, and then double-click it. In the pop-up "Edit DWord Value" dialog box, according to the memory capacity of the computer. Determine the key value of the key. If the computer memory is less than 512MB, type "256"; if the memory is larger than 512MB, set it to "1024". When you are done, exit the Registry Editor and restart your computer to take effect.
