Backup and recovery of the dual-system Windows

For some reason, the Windows operating system completely crashes and cannot be repaired. It takes only a few hours to reinstall the Windows system, and one or more tools such as Office, and also need to be reset. Going through the system to get the best out of it is a very painful thing that anyone who plays a computer has tried. But I can tell you: From now on, you can become painful. After deleting all the directories and files of the hard disk partition where the operating system has crashed, it takes only a few minutes to reinstall all of the above. You may ask: Really? ! Let `s go

a precondition

of course, to honor these commitments, there must be a prerequisite: install dual operating systems Windows, namely Windows 98 (hereinafter referred to as Win98) and Windows 2000 (hereafter referred to as Win2000), and installed in different hard disk partitions. For the installation and setup of the dual Windows system, please refer to my previous work "Installation, Setup and Maintenance of Dual Windows System" (2000 "Computer News", Issue 4, 15th Edition, hereinafter referred to as "Double"). The operating system installation mode is based on the explanation. Need to add a little necessary to this article, I said that when installing Win2000, in the "Select File System" option, select the C drive "Keep the existing file system", which means to maintain the FAT32 file system mode, should not choose NTFS File system mode to install Win2000.

two backup method, a backup system is established

system, is a backup of the file system Win98 disk D in the C drive (i.e. Win2000 operating system); (i.e., Win98 operating in the D In the system), the Win2000 system files of the C drive are backed up.

1. Preparations

1 swelling and installation treatment. Detumescence is the uninstallation or organization of some unnecessary and large-volume software in the operating system, such as large games. At the same time, install the most commonly used tools such as Office, Winamp, and anti-virus. The principle of swelling and installation is to minimize system file capacity without adding excessive re-setting and installation work.

2 Clear useless files, optimize registry, and two operating system configuration parameters, such as the desktop are set to best suit their own use.

3 In the "Folder Options" of the corresponding operating system, set to "Show all files" to back up the hidden files.

4 other than the partition C, D disc, make the left and right about 800MB of disk space for the storage of the backup file out. The exact amount will depend on the file size of the partition where the operating system is located. Refer to the attached table below for calculation.

5 to C, D disk, and store the backup file hard disk partition such as E drive, etc. defragmentation.

6 In order to minimize the capacity of the backup file, we can take backup compression method to perform. At the same time, in the process of compressing the backup, there will also be a function of "exporting" the startup file and the system file. Compression software is a lot, but according to my experience and habits, it is best to use the famous WinRAR, which supports compression of multiple file directories, faster, easy to operate, and very reliable. The version I am using is 2.50 beta 5.

2.

backup system backup 1Win98 operating system: Start the computer, enter the C disk Win2000 operating system, open WinRAR, right click the disk drive drop-down menu to select the D drive, select all files except "Win386.swp" of Directories and files (because "Win386.swp" is a virtual memory file, there is no need to back it up together). Click the shortcut button "Add" to open "Archive name and parameters", in the "Archive" or "Browse" type the save path and backup file name, for example, I will save it as "E:\\System Backup\\Win98d.rar". Set "Volume size, bytes" to "Autodetect". Others use the default value, press "OK" to start the compressed backup of the D disk Win98 system file.

backup 2Win2000 operating systems: Restart the computer, enter the Win98 operating system D drive, open WinRAR, this time we will be compressed disk drive options for the C drive and select all files directories and files, settings are saved For "E:\\System Backup\\Win2000c.rar", perform a compressed backup of the C drive Win2000 system files.

1 Recovery after

Third, the system crashes.

recovery after a system crash Win98 start the computer, enter the Win2000 operating system, restore the following steps:

1 to open the "Explorer", first had a chance to back up before the collapse of the Win98 Some useful files are backed up to other disk partitions.

2 Select the D drive in the “Resource Manager”, except for “Recycled” or “Recycle Bin”, delete all other file directories and files, and empty the recycle bin. We can't directly process the format of the D drive, because Windows and other software such as "Super Bodyguard" will leave a record in the DBR of the hard disk during the installation process. If we format its partition, it will delete its record. Bringing new problems to the use of the operating system after recovery. We can only manually delete all the file directories and files of the partition, so that the original information record in the hard disk DBR can still be used after recovery, in order to ensure 100% recovery of its operating system.

3 Open WinRAR, select E disk in the right drive drop-down menu, double-click "system backup \\ Win98d.rar", then we can see the complete Win98 operating system backup file. Select all file directories and files, click the shortcut button "Extract to" to open "Extract path and options", select D disk directly in the right window, then press "OK", then extract the file directory and files into the D drive .

After the decompression is completed, we can restart the computer, the intact Win98 and personal configuration are welcome to visit you!

2. Recovery after Win2000 system crash

If the Win2000 system crashes, we start the computer into the Win98 operating system, and the steps are basically the same as the "Recovery after Win98 system crash", the difference is:
< BR> 1 Manually delete all file directories and files of the C drive.

2 Unzip the "Win2000c.rar" system file to the C drive. Backup data compression and decompression installation situation

See Schedule I of the two operating systems.

Schedule:

Among them, the size of the operating system file size in the two disk partitions is different from the software installed in each operating system, and its size is different. It is directly related to the time required for compression and decompression.

Fourth, several issues to be aware of

1. Cannot be compressed and decompressed under DOS
. Due to the 8.3 limit on the file name of the DOS
operating system, there are many long file names in the Win98 and Win2000 operating systems. If compressed and decompressed under DOS
, the original file will be destroyed. Name, so that the system can not be fully recovered.

2. The operation of deleting the C disk file directory and files can only be performed in the "Explorer". After the deletion, the startup files of the two Windows systems disappear completely. At this time, it is absolutely impossible to restart the computer. Only the system backup file of the C disk is " Win2000c.rar" can be restarted after all the files are decompressed to the C drive, otherwise neither system can be restored.
