Windows XP six undisclosed secrets

1. Support for large hard disks of 137 GB or more

To use a large hard disk of 137 GB or more, you must use the 48-bit LBA mode. First of all, your motherboard BiOS must support 48Bit LBA, followed by WinXP Home and Professional must have SP1 patch installed. Then open the registry, find the "EnableBigLba" option in the path "HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\ Services\\Atapi\\Parameter" and change its value from "0" to "1". If the item does not exist, you can create a "DWord value" item yourself, and set it up. Finally, you can restart it.

2.Delete shared documents

If you don't need to share files, you can remove it by going to HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\ Explorer\\ My computer\\ Namespace\\DelegateFolders, Delete the key value "".

3.Lock the desktop

Want to lock the desktop without being modified by others, you can use a lot of tools such as TweakUI, but in fact, a small change in the registry can be achieved: enter HKEY_CURRENT_USER \\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\PolicIEs\\Explorer, create DWord value "NoDesktop", and change its value to "1".

4. Disable "Last Access Time Stamp"

Do not want this feature, you can modify it like this: Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\ Control\\File\\ System, create a new DWord value "NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate", and change its value to "1".

5. Set "Remote Access Connection Server (RAS)"

If you need it, you can modify it like this: Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\Winlogon and create a new string value "KeepRasConnections" ", change its value to "1".

6. Using plain text passwords (Lain Text PassWord)

When accessing a UNIX or Linux server, sometimes you need a plain text password. This is easy to implement under XP: find "HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\ Services\\lanmanworkstation\\parameter\\enableplaintextpassWord" and set its value to "1".
