"Unable to install this hardware, RPC server is not available", XP system can not install printer driver

Yesterday installed printer, BrotherMFC-3360C, due to system problems not long ago, so the system is re-covered, the system is newly installed XP Sp3, connect the printer, use to drive the CD, start adding the printer, everything seems to be smooth, but when using the original CD to install the printer driver, a pop-up prompt box appears, indicating that the hardware cannot be installed, the RPC server is unavailable. .

Clear the printer remnant program by optimizing tools such as masters, including hard disk files and registry files, to prevent the driver from being installed properly. The driver was re-downloaded through the website, the firewall was turned off, and the manual installation was attempted. As a result, when the installation proceeded to accept the program license agreement, the same problem occurred and the installation could not be continued.

The Control Panel Management Tool service found that the local system RPC service was disabled, causing the printer to fail to install properly. The service process was named Svchost.exe. It has a dependency on many services, and many services need to depend on it to run and start, so a considerable number of services depend on its operation. We only need to enable RPC to solve this problem.

Print Spooler manages the print process service, which depends on the open state of the RPC service. This can be seen by looking at the dependencies of the Print Spooler service.

Therefore, to solve the problem that the printer is not properly installed and printed, it means that the Print Spooler service settings must be adjusted, and because the service has a dependency relationship with the RPC, the reason why the system cannot install the hardware is displayed as The RPC server is not available.

Solution:

First enter the service dialog via the Control Panel Management Tools service. Locate the Print Spooler and Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service point right, and the Attribute Enable service is set to Auto.

Click the Remote Procedure Call service can be found in the default state is started, the startup type of automatic landing mode for the local system. It is ok to turn on the RPC service. It is best to change this service to the automatic startup type. To change the default state, you need to right-click on the property to enter the dialog.

In the Properties dialog box, you need to make the following settings:

General Page: You can modify the service status of RPC. The default is started. If the display is disabled, you need to manually configure it. Click the launch button below to open the RPC service.

login page: you can modify the logged on user, and if other clients in the LAN want to check this account and enter the account and password; and if it is the same as the author's native computer to print the point Select the local system account.

After all the above settings are configured, restart the computer and finally install the printer driver as usual. -->Test page OK
