The installation software Zune did not pass the Windows Logo test and could not verify its compatibility with WinXP

  
Symptoms
You will experience one or both of the following symptoms:

• When you connect to your computer, the Zune device appears Find the new hardware wizard. If you click Auto Install Software (recommended): Then click Next, you receive the following error message You are installing software for this hardware Zune did not pass the Windows Logo test and cannot verify that it is compatible with Windows XP: • List Zune for use under Portable Devices The device icon will appear in the device manager, a yellow exclamation point (!).
You can try
Maybe the system policy on your computer is set to warn you that the driver software was not signed during hardware installation. To work around this issue, click Continue in the notification message.

If the system policy is set on your computer to block unsigned driver software, you cannot resolve this issue during hardware installation. You may need to resolve the service for the driver signature check to fail.

To resolve this issue, set the encryption service service startup to automatic. Then try to install the software again. To set the encryption service to start automatically, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK. 2. Right-click Encryption Service and click Properties. 3. In the Startup type box, click Automatic. 4. If you stop the service, click Start. If you are running the service, click Stop, and the service stops before you click Start.
After completing these steps, reconnect the device to prompt you to install the software automatically. If the driver installation has been canceled, you will not be prompted to reinstall it. So you may need to install the driver manually.

To install the driver manually, follow these steps: 1. Click A0 > Start, right-click, and then click My Computer. 2. Click Properties, and then click Device Manager. 3. Find the Zune portable device.

A yellow exclamation mark may appear on the device icon. 4. Right-click Zune, and then click Properties. 5. Click the Update Drivers and Drivers tab. 6. Click and then click Next to automatically install the software (recommended) 7. After the driver installation is complete, click Finish. If Windows cannot find the required driver, follow these steps to manually find the driver: 1. Click Start, and then right-click My Computer. 2. Click Properties, and then click Device Manager. 3. Find the Zune portable device.

Click Install from the list or Specify location (Advanced), and then click Next. 7. Next, DonÆt Search I have to choose the driver I want to install. 8. Click Have Disk, and then click Browse. 9. In the Look in box, click the C (:) local disk. 10. Double-click ProgramFiles and double-click Zune. 11. Click Zune, and then click Open. 12. Confirm, and then click Next. 13. Click Finish when the driver installation is complete.
If you still can't install the driver, remove and reinstall the Zune software. Prompts you to reconnect your device during installation.

If you have administrative credentials on your computer, you can temporarily change the driver signing option to resolve this issue. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, and then right-click My Computer. 2. Click Properties. 3. Click the Hardware tab, and then click Next Driver Signing Driver. 4. Note the current settings, then click Ignore û still install the software and donÆt request my approval. 5. Connect your Zune device. Select to automatically install the software when prompted. 6. Finish the installation is complete, repeat steps 1 - 4 and change back to, you have noted the settings in step 4.
