Change the Windows XP parameters to make the thumbnail display faster

Everyone knows that Thumbs.db is a file that stores image thumbnail caches in Windows. Many people think that it can't play any role and waste disk space. So everyone disables the image cache function of Windows, thus freeing up hard disk space. In fact, for today's 120GB, 160GB large-capacity hard drive, the space occupied by Thumbs.db is really insignificant, and it really speeds up the display of thumbnails. However, when a large number of good quality images are stored in a folder, you will find that the thumbnail display is very slow when you view it in thumbnail mode. Maybe you have enabled the “cache thumbnail” function, but the speed is still unsatisfactory. . In fact, as long as we change a parameter, we can lose weight to Thumbs.db and display acceleration for thumbnails.

Step 1: Download the Tweak UI Chinese version.

Step 2: Unzip the downloaded file and run the extracted TweakUI.exe file directly.

Step 3: Click the + sign in front of the “Explorer” in the tree list on the left, click “Thumbnail”, then we can see that there are two items that we can change (Figure 1 ), one is the quality of the thumbnail, and the other is the size of the thumbnail. The quality of the changed thumbnail determines the size of the generated Thumbs.db file, and the size of the thumbnail determines the speed at which the thumbnail is displayed when viewed in thumbnail mode. It can be modified as needed. It is recommended that the image quality should not be modified too low. The thumbnail size can be changed to 48. If it is too small, it will not be clear (2 is the size of the thumbnail display before modification, and Figure 3 is the effect after changing to 48).

Note:

1. Use Tweak UI to shorten the thumbnail and then speed up The effect of the thumbnail display is very obvious, especially for folders that store a large number of high-quality image files. Changes to the thumbnail image quality are only valid for newly generated thumbnails, and no changes can be made to previously generated thumbnail files, so it is recommended to delete all Thumbs.db files on the machine after the changes, so that when the folder is opened again, The thumbnail will be generated with the new settings.

2. For the average user, not much storage folder for each file image file, can be completely disable caching thumbnails, but for some friends specializes in the design work, the proposed open And adjust the quality and size of the thumbnail display appropriately, so as to lose weight for Thumbs.db on one hand, reduce the occupation of disk space, and on the other hand, speed up the display of thumbnails.
