8. Use the increased disk tools

In the XP familiar ScanDisk is gone, many people are very uncomfortable with this, and feel very strange In fact, Windows XP already includes an enhanced disk tool: Check Disk. Therefore, ScanDisk does not have to exist. If you want to use Check Disk: Open my computer, right click on a drive and select "Properties". On the Tools tab, under Check for errors, click Check Now. If you want to check the disk partition from the command line, you can use the format ch < k> kdsk c:.

9. Forget the login password solution

XP auditing user security is very strict, if you forget the password set, don't think you can choose like Windows98 Cancel to enter the system, I believe that friends who have installed Windows XP are very clear. Because there is no login password, I can't enter the system. Many friends have no choice but to reinstall Windows XP, but this method is cumbersome and time-consuming, but it doesn't have to be so troublesome.

As you know, the security management of user accounts in Windows 2000/XP uses the security account manager (SAM) mechanism. The security account manager manages accounts by security identity. The security ID is created at the same time when the account is created. Once the account is deleted, the security ID is also deleted. The security identity is unique, and even with the same username, the security identity obtained each time it is created is completely different. Therefore, once an account is deleted, its security identity no longer exists. That is, if the account is rebuilt using the same username, it will be given a different security identity and will not retain the original permissions.

The specific performance of the Security Account Manager is the %SystemRoot%\\system32\\config\\sam file. The SAM file is the user account database of Windows NT/2000/XP. All users' login names and passwords are saved in this file. Knowing these solutions has also been generated: before the system starts, insert the boot disk, enter C:\\WINNT\\System3\\Config\\, rename the SAM file with the ren command, or delete the SAM file with the del command, restart the computer Just fine. After changing the name or deleting the SAM file, try to log in with the Administrator, the password is empty, and it succeeds.

10. Optimizing font installation

Some friends need to install a variety of different fonts, but some fonts are very large, especially Chinese fonts, generally around 10M, once installed too much Fonts will make the system disk bloated. In fact, from Win98 to WinXP, you can do a little optimization during the installation. The effect is that you no longer copy the new font to the system disk.

Taking WinXP as an example, we create a directory on a blank drive: NewFonts (name, drive name is arbitrary), then put all the fonts that need to be installed into this directory, and then at the "start" → Enter the fonts in “Run”, open the font directory, open “File” → “Install New Font” in turn, find the D:\\NewFonts directory in the dialog box that appears, and then remove the “Copy font to Fonts folder”. "√", finally select the font to be installed, OK.

11. Voice prompt switch button

During the process of inputting a large number of English/Chinese characters, you may often encounter accidental press of the switch button and cause frequent input. Errors that reduce productivity (especially fast blind hits). If we set up an audible prompt for the toggle button, we can effectively avoid this problem. In the Control Panel, double-click the Accessibility Options icon, and in the pop-up dialog box, look at the "Keyboard" tab, check the "Use toggle key" checkbox in the "Switch Key" item, and finally Click "OK" to make the settings go up (Figure 7).

12. Time Correction Automation

What if the clock under Win XP is suddenly out of order? I believe that most people will use manual methods to recalibrate the time; unfortunately, no matter how careful we are, we can't achieve precise timing by hand. To accurately clock the clock, we can use the following method:

Double-click the system clock icon in the tray area of the system tray to open the "Internet Time" tab page. Select a standard time server, click the OK button, the system automatically connects to the Internet, and automatically compare the system clock in the computer with the clock of the specified server, if it is found to be inaccurate, it can be automatically adjusted. However, to be precise, you must ensure that your system does not have a firewall installed.

13.XP can also be disk scan

I do not know, in Windows XP did not provide us with the function of disk scanning, which brings us some inconvenience to the defragmentation. In order to solve this, after painstaking research, I finally found a solution.

Right-click on the partition you want to scan for in My Computer, open its properties dialog, then switch to the Tools tab, and click the Start Check button in the Troubleshooting section. In the subsequent dialog box, select the "Automatically fix file system error", "Scan and try to recover bad sectors" two options (Figure 8), and then click the "Start" button.

14. It is forbidden to use IE6 to download files

Sometimes we need to disable IE to download files, but we have been suffering from no way to use the system settings, in fact, if in the registry If you make a slight modification, you can meet everyone's requirements. Open the registry editor, find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Internet Settings\\Zones\\3, then find the Dword value of 1803 on the right, and double-click to change to 3. Restart IE to see if you can still download
? If you want to cancel the limit, you only need to restore the Dword value to 0.

15. Using CD to detect system compatibility

Windows XP is the latest operating system for personal installation. On some old machines, it often encounters incompatibilities in the installation process, making installation. Halfway through the process, it was forced to end. In order to avoid this, we can use the installation CD to check the compatibility of the system before installing Windows XP.

Inserting the installation CD into the CD-ROM drive will automatically open the welcome interface (Note: If the CD is disabled, we can execute the SETUP.EXE command on the CD, you can also open it) Click on the last page of the interface. A "check system compatibility" and then click "automatically check my system", so that after a while, the results will be displayed, and the incompatible items will be reported. To install Windows XP, you must first solve these incompatibilities. The project will do so, so as not to be forced to stop in the middle.

16. Retrieving pure DOS for Windows XP

Sometimes we have to use some programs that work in pure DOS mode, but we can't find pure DOS in Windows XP. Do we have to give up these programs running under pure DOS? of course not! Use the following method to get you into pure DOS mode in Windows XP.

The first method: using Win98

Before we install the XP operating system, first boot the system with the Windows 98 boot disk, and transfer the system to the c drive through the sys c: command. Copy the commonly used DOS commands to the hard disk, and then install XP as usual. When the installation is successful, a "Microsoft Windows" menu item will be added in the default menu of the boot menu "Microsoft Windows XP", select this menu. After the item, because the Windows98 system is not installed in the system, the computer will automatically go to the DOS system at this time, and it is still in real mode, thus achieving our goal.

The second method: use the start command

In the Windows XP command interpreter, type: start/seperate to run the program, you can run the corresponding DOS program. The function of the parameter separate is to start a 16-bit program in a separate memory space, and the shared parameter is to start a 16-bit program in the shared memory space. When the DOS program is running, we can also press the Alt+Enter key to switch between full screen and window.

The third method: using the tool software

We can also use a small tool pqvf.exe to achieve the purpose, the software download address is 61.234.226.248/pqvf.exe. The software is part of the netizen analysis of PQ Magic related files, and extracted some of the file production software, which allows those Windows XP users to quickly boot to pure DOS, restart and then use Windows XP to start.

The downloaded pqvf.exe file is a self-extracting program. The file name and function after decompression are as follows: The main functions of MBR.dat and restrmbr.exe are used to restore the main boot of the hard disk. Recorded, the same as executing the FDISK/mbr command, can clear the main boot sector without changing the partition table structure. Vfinst9x.exe is used to start a pure DOS interface under Windows 9x, and VfinstNT.exe is used to start a pure DOS interface under Windows XP. Pqvf.vfd contains the bootable floppy image file.

The specific method is: directly run VfinstNT.exe, vfinstNT.exe file, they will modify the hard disk master boot record, then Windows XP will automatically restart, after the restart you will see the drive letter will be A: . You can view the current DOS version by typing the ver command. The display is "Windows 98 (version 4.10.2222)". It seems to be pure DOS! And the necessary drivers like himem.sys.emm386.exe, CD-ROM drive and mouse driver are also installed, and also automatically installed a simple Chinese character system, fully able to cope with general DOS applications. If you want to go back to the Windows XP interface, just restart your computer.
