Create a Windows XP Universal Mirror Installation Disk

In order to improve the efficiency of the installation system, people often make the Win98 or WinMe operating system into a Ghost image file, and then quickly install it on other workstations. However, in the WinXP system, the Ghost image file can not pass unimpeded, because the system can automatically identify the hardware device, once the hardware changes greatly, it can not be installed in other workstations. Is there any way to make the Ghost image file of XP system suitable for every workstation? The answer is yes, as long as you follow the steps below, you can easily create an XP Universal Mirror installation disk.

Since the WinXP system is installed in the computer, all the hardware devices will be automatically installed; therefore, you can uninstall all the automatically installed devices, and let the WinXP system return to the original installation state, then Then the system in this state is made into a Ghost image file, and a general mirror disk can be generated.

Step 1: In order to facilitate the production of image CD files, you should find a way to “slim down” the XP system that needs to be mirrored, and try to keep its capacity within 700MB so that it can be burned into a CD.

First, open the "Power Options" in the control panel (as shown in Figure 1), turn off the hibernation function, which can save the same amount of space as the virtual memory size; secondly, open the system run dialog box, execute The "sfc /purgecache" command clears some useless dynamic cache files, which saves about 300MB. Third, it cleans up temporary files and other useless files from the system, such as deleting temporary Internet folders. All content, delete the Temp temporary folder, clear the history in IE, etc.

Step 2: In order for WinXP system to return to a "clean" state, you must uninstall the already installed equipment, while some drivers will be modified to state standards, in order to fit each workstation.

First, open the system's "Device Manager" window, select a device option that has been installed, such as "sound, video and game controller", then right-click, execute the shortcut menu "Uninstall" command. When you are prompted to restart your computer, you must click "No", otherwise the uninstalled device will be automatically recognized and installed by WinXP system after restarting. Similarly, according to the previous method, the hardware devices such as "Universal Serial Bus Controller", "Monitor", "Network Interface Card", "Display Card", "Network Card", "Modem" in the system are uninstalled one by one. Drop it.

Second, in the Device Manager list window, select the "ACPI Uniprocessor PC" option under the "Computer" branch, execute the "Update Driver" command in the shortcut menu, and then select "From the list or specify Location installation", in the subsequent window, then select "Don't search, I want to choose..."; after opening the "Display compatible hardware" setting page, please set the model to "Standard PC", and then follow the on-screen prompts. Complete the driver modification task; finally, when the screen prompts you to restart the system, you must click No.

Third, in accordance with the method of modifying the ACPI driver, please modify the "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller" driver to the "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller" driver without restarting the computer. After completing the above operation, the WinXP system can be completely restored to a "clean" state, and you can make this system an image file.
Step 3: Before creating the Ghost image file, you must create an automatic answer file for the WinXP system, so that the cloned WinXP system can be automatically installed without the keyboard and mouse being recognized. Using the "deploy.cab" file on the WinXP installation CD, you can repackage WinXP systems that have not been patched so that they can automatically answer the installation in the future.

First, unzip the "deploy.cab" file in the "Support\\tools" folder of the WinXP installation CD to the sysprep folder on the C drive. Second, double-click the setupmgr.exe file in the sysprep folder. Open the Windows Installation Management Wizard window, and select "Create New File" "sysprep Installation" (as shown in Figure 2) "Windows XP Professional" (this must be the actual installation version of your system) "Yes, fully automatic installation" After that, enter the user name and unit correctly, select "Display Settings" as "Use Defaults", "Time Zone" as "Beijing Time", then enter the WinXP system installation serial number, computer name, and system management. Password, and then set the following "network components", "workgroup or domain", "telephone service" and other items as default options; then, set the "Region" option to "Chinese", the "Language" item Set to "Chinese Simplified", and finally click the "Finish" button to save the previously created answer file to the C drive sysprep folder In the middle, it is named "sysprep.inf". Next, double-click the sysprep.exe file in the sysprep folder. In the subsequent window, click "OK", then select the "Use Minimal Installation" option in the window below, and then click the "Repackage" button. Once the repackaging is complete, the computer will automatically shut down.

Step 4: Now, you just computer's C drive GHOST XP system to another hard drive, generates a generic GHO file, and then burn the files to a disc, to generate a bootable CD image that is can.

First, the hard disk that has been packaged with the XP system is removed and installed on other computers (you cannot use the hard disk as the system boot disk), and then the latest version of the GHOST program will be used to package the XP system. The hard disk partition is cloned into an image file (note that you must use a high compression ratio to keep the image file within 700MB). Second, use the latest version of the Nero program to burn the XP system image file and GHOST program file to the CD (when burning) , you must use the bootable data disc option).

After completing all the above steps, you will be able to generate a generic XP image installation CD. In the future, you only need to use the CD to boot to the DOS state. Use the GHOST command to restore the XP image file to the specified hard disk, and you can quickly install the WinXP system.
