Actually repair disk array Raid-d volume

In order to improve the performance of the server, many network administrators have done RAID-5 on the server. But in the course of use, if there is a fault, how to fix it? For the repair of RAID-5 volumes, the repair of the original disk is not replaced and the repair of the original disk is replaced. The repair method is different in both cases.

First, do not replace the original disk to repair the RAID-5 volume

If the RAID-5 volume is not caused by the physical failure of the disk, the repair is relatively simple, the steps are as follows:

First check if the failed disk has been properly connected to the computer, to ensure that the data cable and power cable are working properly; secondly, open the "Disk Management" window, the right-click status is displayed as "Lost", “ Offline & rdquo; or & ldquo; online (error) & rdquo; disk execution & ldquo; reactivate the disk & rdquo; command (Figure 1).

If the disk has no physical failure, the reactivated disk should display the "Online" status, while the RAID-5 volume will begin to "Resync". After the synchronization is completed, all the "RAID volume" will be restored to "good status", and the fault has been effectively repaired.

Second, replace the original disk to repair the RAID-5 volume

The worst thing is that the disk has a physical failure and cannot be repaired. At this time, when you right-click the failed disk, the “Reactivate Disk” command in the shortcut menu is unavailable. You can only use the “Delete Disk” command. This situation is more serious and the repair steps are slightly more complicated.

First, replace the disk of the same model and set the disk as a dynamic disk according to the method of creating a dynamic disk as described above. Secondly, right-click the fault in the "Disk Management" window. Disk, in the pop-up shortcut menu to execute the "Recover Volume" command, open the "Restore RAID-5" volume dialog.

Click on the list of disks to select the damaged disk drive to be replaced, click the "OK" button to start repairing. After the repair is complete, right-click the damaged disk and execute the “Delete Disk” command in the pop-up shortcut menu to delete the disk from the RAID-5 volume.
