shown in Figure 11 in the pop-up "feature to enhance this level of success," the prompt box, click on the "OK" button to end the "Raise Forest Functional Level" operating
after the above advance preparation, Now you can use the domain rename tool "Rendom" to complete the domain name change, but because the tool does not exist in the system, but is stored on the system installation CD, you should first extract the tool from the installation CD. To do this, insert the installation CD of Windows Server 2003 into the CD-ROM drive and copy the DOMREN directory under "\\VALUEADD\\MSFT\\MGMT" to the root directory of the C drive of the system.

Then click "Start", "Program", "Accessories", "Command Prompt" item, and then use the CD command to enter the DOMREN directory under the command line in the open "Command Prompt" window. Enter the "Rendom /list" command to generate a description for the current forest (the information will be written to an output file using the XML encoding structure, the default file name is domainlist.xml). This file contains a list of all the domain and application directory partitions in the forest, along with their corresponding DNS and NetBIOS names (the application directory partition does not have a NetBIOS name). As shown in FIG. 12 because

"Rendom /list" generated by the command current forest description file is a text file, so that the system can now use the "Notepad" function to edit it. 13 In the above image

press "Ctrl + H" key, in the pop-up "Replace" dialog box all "shyzhong.com" replaced with the name "new domain lovebook. Cn", and the NetBIOS name is also replaced accordingly, save the file. As shown in FIG. 14

then returns to operator command prompt, type "Rendom /upload" command on the command line. After this command is run, the domain's naming master will make some changes to prepare for the actual execution of the rename operation.

Tip:

The actions and directories that are executed by the upload command are changed in preparation for future rename operations. No modifications are made to the domain name in this step.

Then enter the "Rendom /prepare" command and the "Rendom /execute" command. As shown in Figure 15, the "Rendom /prepare" command is mainly used to check whether all DCs connected to the domain are ready. If you see "Successfully" information, it means that each DC is successfully connected. . In addition, this test performs an authorization check on each DC to determine if the user running the rendom /prepare command is authorized to execute the rename command. If the user does not get a "write" authorization, the command will fail with an error.

The "Rendom /execute" command is used to issue a formal change of the domain name. If you see "Successfully" information, the domain rename process is successfully completed.

After the above commands are executed, the system will automatically shut down and restart. It is also necessary to perform two manual shutdowns of all computer computers in the domain, the first shutdown for the new domain membership to take effect; the second shutdown is used to automatically convert the computer's DNS suffix to the new domain name.

Tips:

If the DNS suffix does not change automatically, right-click the "My Computer" icon and select "Properties" from the pop-up menu to switch to the "Computer Name" tab settings. After the interface, click the "Change" button and follow the prompts.
V. Adjust Group Policy

After completing the domain renaming application, I hope that the relevant settings in the group policy can continue to be applied. So you need to enter the following command in the command prompt window:

gpfixup /olddns:shyzhong.com /newdns:lovebook.cn /oldnb:SHYZHONG /newnb:LOVEBOOK /dc:lovebook.cn < Br>

After executing the above command (the intermediate domain name part should be modified according to the actual situation), if you see the "Start fixing non-site group policy links" message, the above command has been successfully executed. As shown in Figure 16

Six delete the original domain name

Let us now look at how the domain rename delete the original domain name. This operation simply removes the original domain name from Active Directory using the "Rendom /clean" command. After successfully running the "Rendom /clean" command, the new forest is ready for the next forest structure adjustment. This can be seen only from the Active Directory Domains and Trusts window.
