“File”Menu

(1)“New”Command

Let's learn how to create a new document. If you don't open a document in Photoshop CS2, then any of its tools and options can't be operated, so first we select “New” in the “File" menu bar, you can also hold down the Ctrl key while Double-clicking the left mouse button will bring up a new file dialog. We set up a document with a width of 500 pixels and a height of 360 pixels. This size is suitable for most monitor workspaces, as shown below:

In the "Name" column, you can enter a theme for the document you want. On the right side of the "Width" and "height" heights, you can select "inch, millimeter, centimeter, dot, and pie card" by pressing the down arrow pop-up menu. To access pop-up menus, Mac users simply click anywhere in the pop-up menu, and Windows users must click the drop-down button on the pop-up menu.

If the width is not set to 500 and the height is not set to 360, let's enter these values now. Select it by clicking on the "Width" field and enter 500. Press the TAB key, move the cursor to the “Height” field and enter 360. The cursor movement between the fields can be switched by clicking with the mouse or by pressing the Tab key.

We generally set the resolution to 72 pixels per inch. Photoshop CS2 uses 72ppi as the default because most displays display 72 pixels per inch in the screen area. In other words, the resolution of the document settings is the same as the resolution of the display. If your setting is not 72ppi, change it to 72. If the value of resolution, height or width is increased, the size of the image will also increase. In our actual operation, we try to avoid large images, because large images are very cumbersome in operation, slow in response, and it also slows down the computer.

In the "Mode" option, it should be set to RGB color (red/green/blue). Photoshop CS2 uses RGB colors as the default setting because RGB is the standard color mode for video display colors. In RGB mode, colors are composed of three colors: red, green, and blue. When set to RGB color mode, all drawing and editing properties of Photoshop CS2 are valid. If your computer is not set to RGB color mode, you can set the RGB color by clicking on the “mode> pop-up menu to select “RGB Color”.

If you want to make the new layer background white, click the "white" button in the combo box. If you select the &Backquo; Background Color” option, the background color used by Photoshop CS2 will be the background color of your new document. If you choose “Transparent", you will work on a background layer with no color values. When we click the "OK" button to close the new dialog, a new document window will appear on your screen. The name of the file (not titled), the current display mode, and the magnification ratio are written in the subject line of the window. You can scroll, resize, and close the Photoshop CS2 window, or you can move the window to the position you want by clicking and dragging the theme bar.
