Thoroughly dry WinRAR: practical skills 4

1. Save WinRAR settings and registration information

Everyone has different habits with rar compression, and the settings are different. When you set up your own plan, it is very handy. However, if you reinstall the system, or if you change a computer, you will need to re-set the program and re-register, which is very troublesome. In fact, as long as you use 2 registry files, you can easily get it without re-registration and setup.

Save registration information

The WinRAR registration file is located in the WinRAR installation directory (default is c: Program FilesWinRAR) and the file name is Rarreg.reg. Back up this file before reinstalling the system or changing the computer. After installing the system, double-click to run the registration file, it will automatically import the registration information into the registry. Ok, WinRAR is registered.

Save Settings Information

After WinRAR is set up, you can back up the setup information first. Open WinRAR main interface, select "Options -> Import /Export -> Export Settings to File" on the menu bar, WinRAR will save all the settings information to a registry file called Settings.reg. To reinstall the system or use it for a computer, first back up this file. After installing WinRAR, copy this file to the WinRAR installation directory, and then select "Options -> Import /Export -> from the menu bar. Import settings can restore the previous settings
2. Quickly decompress files

WinRAR supports drag and drop operations, as long as the files in the compressed package are directly dragged and dropped to the corresponding directory will be automatically decompressed. But sometimes you will find that decompression is very slow, especially when the compressed file is large. This is because the temporary release folder is set. When compressed, WinRAR will first release the file to this temporary folder (background operation, the user is invisible), and then cut to the directory you specified. Remove this setting and the decompression will be much faster. There are two ways to solve this problem.

1) Open the main WinRAR interface, select "Options -> Settings", in the "Path Options", set the "temporary file release folder" to empty, then press OK to exit this way later drag and drop solution The compression will be directly extracted to the directory you specified.
2) No need to make any settings. As long as you extract the file, right click on the archive and select "Release to...". WinRAR will automatically create a folder with the same name as the archive in the current directory and extract the files to this folder. BR> 3. Combine multiple compressed packages into one compressed package

The latest WinRAR3.40 supports drag and drop operations to directly merge multiple compressed packages into one compressed package. You do not need to solve the files in each compressed package first. Compress it and then merge the compression. The compressed packages to be merged are opened with WinRAR, and then the files to be merged in the compressed package are directly dragged into a compressed package.

4. Quickly package and compress

Many times, we compress and package multiple files just for the convenience of sending to others. We don't care if we can reduce the size of the file and save more hard disk space. Moreover, many files, such as rm and divx encoded video files and jpg image files, are already in compressed format, and even if package compression is used, it cannot be reduced in size. At this time we can package the compressed package into zip format. The compressed package compressed into Zip format is not much larger than the compressed package of rar format, but the compression time is much smaller than the compressed package of rar format. When compressing the file, right click on the file to be compressed, select "Add to Archive", in the pop-up properties window, select "Archive File Type" and select zip format.
