Windows 7 XP mode also requires anti-virus software

The so-called Windows 7 XP mode is Microsoft's use of its Virtual PC technology, allowing Windows 7 users to perform Windows XP-specific, but not for Windows Vista applications. In terms of technical conditions, XP Mode requires a more powerful system than Windows 7 or XP alone, including at least 2GB of memory and a virtualization system with Intel or AMD chip level. Computers that have recently been built and manufactured basically support this technology, but most of the notebooks in 2007 are not supported.

The core of XP mode has Two main items: the Windows Virtual PC engine and an authorized Windows XP Service Pack 3. Although neither is included in the retail boxed version of Windows 7, customers who purchase Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Enterprise or Windows 7 Ultimate will be able to download XP mode for free.

XP Mode is one of the advantages of Microsoft's existing virtualization products. After the setup process is completed, the Windows XP virtual machine is executed behind the scenes, and users do not need to manage multiple desktops. XP Mode automatically installs shortcuts to XP programs to the Windows 7 Start menu. Subsequent operations are similar to how VMware Fusion and Parallels virtual products operate. XP Mode is not a security solution. Users must install anti-virus software on Windows 7 desktops and Windows XP virtual machines to fully protect the system. At the same time, we have to ensure that the system in XP Mode installs the latest system patches in time, otherwise it will lead to security problems.
