Microsoft delayed the release of the open source version of the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool

Microsoft has indicated that it will provide the source code of the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool (WUDT) under the GPL v2 license agreement, which will open the WUDT, but this process is Not so smooth, Microsoft recently said that the open source version of WUDT could not be released last week, and Microsoft needs to do further code testing and revision.

Peter Galli, director of Microsoft's open source platform, said in an official blog last weekend: "Although we work very hard to complete the code and release it today, there are still many places to test and localize. Our goal is All language versions of the tool will be released on the same day and are expected to be completed in the next few weeks."

Three weeks ago it was reported that Microsoft's WUDT may contain GPL code, which is free for users in the Microsoft online store. A download tool is provided to convert the electronic software version (ESD) of Windows 7 to ISO format and copy it to a USB flash drive or DVD.

Microsoft admitted two weeks ago that the code of the WUDT tool does contain open source code under the GPL v2 license, but this is not Microsoft's intentional, Microsoft online store has removed the tool, Microsoft claims to be " These source code will be re-provisioned under the GPL v2 license agreement next week."
