Windows 7 Load Virtual PC Image Tips

I used Virtual PC in Windows 7 to generate Windows XP virtual machine, which has been very stable during use. However, every time you need to use the files in the virtual machine, you must open Virtual PC through network sharing, which is extremely inconvenient and takes up system resources.

So, is there a more simplified way to easily get the files in the virtual machine? In fact, Windows 7 has provided us with a quick way. We only need to load the VPC image of the virtual machine on the computer to achieve the goal.

First, we click the "Start - All Programs - Administrative Tools - Computer Management" command to open the "Computer Management" window. Then select the "Storage - Disk Management" function on the left side, then the usage status of all disk partitions is displayed (Figure 1).

It is important to note that the prerequisite for loading a VPC image is that the virtual machine system is not running the image. Then, we can click the arrow next to "More Actions" under "Disk Management" on the right to select the "Add VHD" command (Figure 2).

Click the "Browse" button in the "Additional Virtual Hard Disk" window to find the VPC image file. You can check "Read-only" to load it in read-only mode (Figure 3). .

After confirmation, the loading will succeed. At this time, we can find in the "Disk Management" window that the VPC image is loaded as a normal disk partition (Figure 4), the partition letter is the same as the original.

Opening the "computer", we found that the partition of the VPC image can be accessed at will, and the file operation is exactly the same as other partitions (Figure 5). This greatly facilitates the file sharing operation between the host and the virtual machine.

However, after the VPC image is loaded, the error of starting the virtual machine will appear (Figure 6). If you start multiple times, you will not be able to successfully enter Windows. This is caused by the virtual machine being unable to write to the image. We just need to uninstall the VPC image.

So, how do you do this? First, close the VPC and then go to the disk management window. Right-click on the loaded VPC virtual disk and select the "Separate VHD" command (Figure 7).

Confirm in the pop-up window (Figure 8). Never check the "Delete virtual hard disk files after deleting disk" option, otherwise you will regret it. In this way, the VPC virtual machine can be used.
