Tutorial: How to turn off Win10/Win8.1/Win7 administrative share

By default, Windows creates some hidden shared folders with a dollar "$" mark at the end of the name. These hidden shares cannot be viewed when the user is on the network node of the File Explorer or using a command to view the network share. This situation exists in XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 to allow system administrators, programs, and related services to manage the network environment.
Windows defaults to the following hidden administrative share:
• Root partition or volume
• System root
• FAX$Share
• IPC$Share
• PRINT$ Sharing
The opening of these shares allows any user with administrative access to your computer or Active Directory domain (connected) to enter any partition without having to actively share files because he has taken Got your account credentials. In Windows NT-based systems (XP, Vista, Win7, Win8/Win8.1, and Win10, etc.), all partitions are open to administrators through the Manage Shares feature. Therefore, this mechanism has security risks. You can completely disable the sharing function in the following three ways.
1, close the Server service
1 in the Run, Task Manager or Cortana search bar (Win10) /Start menu search bar (Win7) /start screen search bar (Win8.1) enter services.msc and press Enter Open "Services"
2 Find Server, double click to open

3 Select "Disable" in "Startup Type", then click "Stop" in "Service Status" to determine
This method The ability to turn off administrative sharing mentioned at the beginning of the article, but for users who need to turn on sharing such as printing and faxing and some file sharing, this approach is somewhat overkill. The latter two methods are more suitable for this part of the user.
2, close the "management share" in the registry
Although it is operating in the registry, but this method is not a problem, but it is best to back up the registry before the modification, in case of modification errors unnecessary trouble. You can use the cleanup master of the soft media cube to complete the operation, which is convenient and quick.
The specific method is as follows:

2Locate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MacHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\LanmanServer\\Parameters

3Create a new DWord (32-bit) value, rename it to AutoShareWks, and set its value data to Click “0” and click OK.
3. Use the setting master of the soft media cube to close “Manage Share”
The operation with Rubik's Cube is more concise, and it will not affect the normal sharing function, which is convenient and efficient.
