Win8.1 upgrade notes summary: download /system requirements /installation

  
        The Microsoft Build2013 Developer Conference will kick off on June 26th, and the Windows 8.1 preview will be open for testing. Before the Win8.1 preview upgrade is released, we will summarize the Win8.1 upgrade notes:
Windows 8.1 preview download and installation:
First, Win8 users update to Win8.1 preview through Windows Store :
1. When Microsoft releases the Windows 8.1 preview version, Win8 users will receive the update notification of Windows Update first. After clicking the notification, they will go to the Windows Store description and download page about Win8.1. Can decide whether to upgrade.

2. Start the download of Windows 8.1 PrevIEw in the Windows Store to get the update. This process is similar to the Windows Store app update, with a "cancel" option during the installation process.
3. When the first part of the upgrade is completed, the user will see a system notification requesting to restart the computer. Naturally there will also be a reminder to restart the countdown.
4, after the restart, the ushered in is the Windows installation interface.
5, the next step is the user license terms, "accept".
6, the next step is the OOBE (Out of Box ExperIEnce) system initial setup process, and the same as the personalization /setup process in the Win8 installation process.
7, the last step, log in to Windows.
Second, through the Windows 8.1 PrevIEw ISO image installation
1, the current Win8 system language is not in the Windows 8.1 PrevIEw supported within 13 languages, you need to install through the ISO image.
2, if you are a Win8 Enterprise user, you also need to install through the Windows 8.1 PrevIEw ISO image.

Windows 8.1 PrevIEw System Requirements:
• Processor: 1 GHz or faster
• RAM: 1 GB RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
• Hard Disk Space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
• Graphics Card/Graphics: Microsoft DirectX 9 Graphics Device with WDDM Driver
Note: Windows RT 8.1 Preview requires a Windows RT The device requires 10GB of available storage space at the same time.
Windows 8.1 PrevIEw System Language Support:
Windows 8.1 Preview will support 13 languages: Arabic, English (US), Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil ), Russian, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish.

Note:
• If the language version of the Windows 8.1 preview you installed is inconsistent with the current computer language, you can only keep the files, but not the applications and settings.
• If you are using Windows 8 with Language Pack or Language Interface Pack (LIP) installed, they will be removed when you install Windows 8.1 Preview.
The upgrade mechanism between Win8, Win8.1 preview and Win8 official version: (see details)
• Upgrade from Win8.1 preview to official version:
Data and account information will be retained, but All applications (including desktop and Metro applications) need to be reinstalled. Among them, the installation record of the Metro application will be synchronized by the Microsoft account.
• Skip Win8.1 Preview, upgrade directly from Win8 to Win8.1 official version:
Users do not need to reinstall the application. All settings, data and applications can be seamlessly migrated.
Note: After installing the Win8.1 preview version, even if you roll back the system to Windows8; if you want to upgrade to the official version of Win8.1, you still need to reinstall the application.
Compared to Win8, Windows 8.1 will reduce the space occupied. Microsoft has done work to remove old components, temporary folders, and improve NTFS compression to free up more space for user machines. 4GB of free space is required before installing Windows 8.1 Preview.
