Configuring Windows Server 2008 Firewall - Allowed by Ping

For security reasons, it is not allowed to ping the external command on Windows Server 2008. If you want to configure the ping to pass the previous setup steps, you will not find it. ICMP related configuration items are found in the Windows firewall, and the operation of this rule must now be configured through “Senior Security Windows Firewall”. The steps are as follows:

  1. Open the "Security Security Windows Firewall" in the management tool.
  2. In the left navigation form, navigate to “Inbound Rules” In the inbound rule, find the file and print share (echo request & ndash; ICMPv4-In) rule whose configuration file type is "public" and set it to allow.

Note: We can choose which network environment (domain, private or public) to allow the rule according to need. If the network uses IPv6, we must also allow ICMPv6-In rules.

In addition, we can also use the command line to perform the inbound Ping rule is enabled or disabled, the command line is as follows:
netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8 netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8 disable
