Windows can not find the file regedit can not open the registry solution

Because I often know Baidu, I also answered a lot of questions raised by netizens about the computer. The problem is strange. Some of them are encountered by myself. One is that I have never encountered it, as long as I basically understand the computer system. Basic knowledge, knowing how to find a problem, can be easily solved even if it has not been encountered.

For example, a netizen asks, enter the regedit command in the "Run" program, but can't open the registry, a prompt pops up: "Windows can't find the file 'regedit'. Please make sure the file name is correct. . . ”, what to do. There are only two cases like this, one is that the regedit.exe file is damaged or lost, and the other is probably hijacked by the image. The following two solutions are mentioned.

Step 1: Copy a registry editor file

1, such a prompt problem, mostly because the registry editor regedit.exe file is damaged or lost, solve The way is to use a USB flash drive, to other systems of the same version, find regedit.exe from the C:\\Windows\\ folder, and copy one out.

2 After copying, insert the USB flash drive into your own computer, then enter the USB flash drive, find the copied regedit.exe, move it to or copy it to C:\\Windows\\ Inside the folder.

3. If you don't have a computer or a computer with the same version of the system, you can also download the same system version of the regedit.exe file from the Internet. To enter it in the Baidu search box. ; regedit.exe download & rdquo;, then & ldquo; Baidu, & rdquo;, can be found online, download it back, unzip it.

4. After decompressing, select the left task “move this file" or “copy this file"; you can move the extracted regedit.exe to C:\\Windows\\ Under the folder.

5. If the previous regedit.exe is just damaged, it will prompt whether to overwrite when you move. Press “ is ”, if it is lost, there will be no prompt, it is best to C: Look under the \\Windows\\ folder and check if regedit.exe is sure to move in. Then go to the Start menu and open “ Run & rdquo;, enter the regedit command, OK, you should be able to open the registry.

Step 2: Modify the registry to remove the image hijacking

1. If after the above method, the registry cannot be opened, it may be hijacked by the image. Test it in one way, you know if it is hijacked, first open "start" in the menu"Run", enter the msconfig command, if it can't be opened, a similar prompt pops up, that is, the image hijacking is undoubted.

2, because the image is hijacked, it is impossible to open the registry from <;start”->“run", at this time, other methods are needed. First enter the C:\\Windows\\ folder, find the regedit.exe file, change the suffix name .exe to .cmd, or .com. Note that the small dot can't be lost. There will be a prompt when changing the extension. Don't worry, just press “yes, then double-click to start, you can also open the registry.

3. After entering the registry, first select the key ““HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE”; then click the “+” symbol in front to open its sub-item.

4, in the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" key, open [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\Image File Execution Options], and finally select Image File Execution Options item.

5. In the right window of Image File Execution Options, find the three items msconfig.exe, regedit.exe, regedit32.exe, then right click, delete all, confirm the delete box “ is & rdquo; can, refresh the registry.

6. Finally, return to the C:\\Windows\\ folder, find regedit.cmd, change its extension back to regedit.exe, and pop up the OK box. Press “Yes .

7, then go back to the desktop, open the "Run" program in the Start menu, and then enter the regedit command, this time, you should be able to open the registry.

Note: If you want to modify the registry, it is best to prepare a copy, in order to use the backup to restore when the error is modified. Download the file on the Internet, it is best to kill the virus after downloading it back, so as not to bring in the virus.
