Announced to stop updating WP7 version of Skype application

Computer store news: Microsoft Skype announced on the official blog that it will not continue to update the Windows Phone 7 version of the Skype application. The reason is that the vast majority of WP users of Skype are on the WP8 platform. The Skype team is focused on providing more new features and improvements for WP8. WP7 is not part of Microsoft's future plans.

WP7 version of Skype can still be downloaded from the Windows Phone app store, with basic chat, voice and video calling features. Users in mainland China still need to switch to the app store in the US or other countries to install Skype.

Earlier this month, Microsoft just added video messaging features already supported by other platforms for Windows Phone 8 Skype. Currently, Skype is built into Windows 8.1, Xbox One, and Outlook.com and is being integrated into more and more Microsoft devices and services. The Skype team also said that they are developing more excellent experiences for Windows Phone, but obviously there will be no more WP7.
