Change the terminal service location in Windows Server 2003 to change

When you install Windows Server 2003, you are not prompted to install Terminal Services; you can only enable or disable the connection to the computer. By default, Terminal Services is installed when you install Windows Server 2003. When you install Windows Server 2003, during the installation component displays the following options:

  • Terminal Services Licensing This option is consistent with the Windows 2000 installation.
  • Application Server
    This option is called "Application Mode" in Windows 2000 Terminal Services.

    This behavior is by design.

    "My Computer" attribute adds a new Remote tab. By allowing or disallowing remote desktop connections to your computer, the Remote tab includes options for enabling and disabling Terminal Services to your computer.

    Some items you made in the answer file have changed during the unattended installation. For example:
  • [Components]
    TerminalServer=ON| OFF
    This configuration determines if the Application Server is installed. The default is Off .

  • [TerminalServices]
    AllowConnections=1| 0
    This configuration determines if Terminal Services connections are allowed. In Windows Server 2003, the default setting is 0, and in Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional, the default setting is 1.

  • PerSession
    Configure the terminal server to provide a terminal server CAL for each active client session. The default value is PerDevice

    example

    LicensingMode = PerSession
    For more information, see "Windows 2003 Server Help" in the "Terminal Services Licensing."

    Important note: unless you enable Terminal Server Otherwise, the installer will ignore LicensingMode. For more information, see TerminalServer in the [Components] section.

  • PermissionsSetting=1| 0
    This configuration determines the "Permissions" mode. If you configure this setting to 1 , Terminal Services 4.0 will be installed in "Compatible Permissions" mode. If you configure this setting to 0, Terminal Services 4.0 will be installed in Windows 2000 compatibility mode. This setting only applies if the Application Server option is selected. The default setting is 0 .
