Mining the powerful network functions of Vista system

Vista has powerful network functions, but it is not used by most users. In addition, some of Vista's default network settings and restrictions are not conducive to the full potential of Vista's network. This article will further explore Vista's network functions from three aspects: network optimization, network failure, and network breakthrough, in order to help everyone. 1. Double-insurance DHCP server for Vista fixed IP and dynamic IP (DHCP) eliminates the trouble of setting IP for users, but not all LANs provide DHCP server. At this time, only IP is set manually. Fixed IP and dynamic IP can be set in Vista. If there is a DHCP server, the IP will be obtained from the DHCP server. Otherwise, we use one of the IPs we specify, and double insurance will make the network more secure. The setup steps are: “Start” → “Control Panel” → “Network and Internet”, double-click “Network and Sharing Center”, then click “Manage Network Connection” on the left. Right click on the “Network Connection” folder that opens. Network card, such as "local connection", select the "Properties" command, then select the "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP /IPv4)" item in the open window, click the "Properties" button below. And in the window that opens again, select the "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Automatically obtain the DNS server address" item. Then click the "Alternate Configuration" tab, then select the "User Configuration" item in the open window, and then enter the fixed IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, preferred DNS server address, such as 192.168.1.10, 255.255.255.0 After 192.168.1.11 and so on, when our computer finds that DHCP exists, it will get the IP address from the DHCP server. Otherwise, we will use the fixed IP, subnet mask, default gateway, preferred DNS server address, etc. we set. (Figure 1) 2. Uninstall the redundant protocol and let the network card run lightly. Windows Vista will bundle many protocols on the “local connection” by default, which will bring unnecessary burden to it. In fact, according to the network principle, the fewer protocols bundled on the network card, the easier it is to “lightly install”, and the networking speed will naturally be much faster. The setting steps are: “Control Panel” → “Network and Internet”, double-click “Network and Sharing Center”, click “Manage Network Connection” on the left in the open window, and right click “Local Area Connection” in the open window. Select "Properties" and cancel the corresponding agreement in the open window. In general, the "QoS Packet Scheduler" and "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" can be removed. If you are only on the Internet and do not access a special network, you can also remove the "Link Layer Topology Mapper I/O Driver" and "Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder". If you are not sharing files on the LAN, you can remove the "Microsoft Network Client" and "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks." In general, you only need to keep "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)". (Figure 2) 3, reset the network card power management, let Vista wake up to the Internet If your network card supports energy saving or wireless network card may encounter such a situation, when we let Vista go to sleep, you can After the sleep state wakes up, but the network card can not wake up for a while, so that we can not access the Internet. In fact, this is because in the default state, in order to save energy, the wireless network card will also go to sleep when the system is dormant, and the network card is different from the general hardware to recover from the sleep state. In this regard, we can set the disable function of the wireless network card, after all, it does not consume much power. The setting steps are as follows: right click on “Computer” → “Administration” → “Device Manager” on the system desktop, then expand “Network Adapter” in the right window and right click on the corresponding network card, select in the pop-up menu. "Attributes". Then in the pop-up dialog box, switch to the "Power Management" option, cancel the system to allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Finally click the "OK" button to save the settings and exit. Or we can go to "Control Panel" → "Power Management", click "Change Plan Settings" under Balanced and then click "Change Advanced Power Settings", expand "Wireless Adapter Device" and set its energy saving mode to "Maximum Performance" Just fine.
