NTFS and FAT32 mutual conversion method under Vista system

        Here are some methods for converting NTFS and FAT32 and common problems, which are equally applicable to Windows Vista.
FAT32->NTFS:
Enter CMD at the beginning - run, then enter convert X:/FS:NTFS (X: is the partition drive letter to be converted) to automatically convert the next time the system starts. However, there are two minor deficiencies in this conversion:
1. In fact, it is not a weakness. It is mainly converted to NTFS. The default Everyone user has full access to all directories and files. In fact, FAT32 acquiesces to all users. Access! For security reasons, you need to reset the security features. For some important files, the full permissions of the everyone should be removed.
2. The converted NTFS partition, the first time it may be easy to generate disk fragmentation.
3.C disk before conversion to NTFS partition, must pay attention to whether it is multi-system, there is no installation of WIN9X, ME and other systems that do not know NTFS partition, if installed, then C disk can not be converted to NTFS Partition, be sure to keep the original FAT partition. The logical partitions in the extended partition can be converted to NTFS partitions except for the partitions where the WIN9X/ME system is installed.
NTFS->FAT32
So far, the more common method is to use PQ Magic to convert (also available in Acronis Partition Expert, English version, but fully supports Chinese), but be sure to pay attention if there is Chinese Catalogs, files, must be centralized with Winrar packaged into English name compression package, otherwise these Chinese directories, files will be inaccessible!!!
FAQ:
1. Midway power off, the partition became PQRP type, can't be accessed, what should I do?
It can be repaired by PTEDIT32.exe (\\PowerQuest\\PartitionMagic 8.0) in the PQ installation directory, just convert the partition marked with PQRP (type 3C) into FAT32/NTFS (type 07/0B) is fine. If it is a C drive error, you can use the real mode DOS to load the DOS version of PTEDIT.exe (\\PowerQuest\\PartitionMagic 8.0\\DOS) to fix. Note: Problems caused by other PQ operation power failures can also be legally processed, and PTEDIT32.exe can support NTFS partitions relative to Diskgenius.
2. After converting the partition, the Chinese directory can not be accessed, what should I do?
You can use GHOST to clone the problem partition, then use Ghost Explorer to open the gho backup file and rename the Chinese directory.
