Remove vista system under Windows XP

First step: First remove the vista in the boot area.

You cannot uninstall Windows Vista. However, you can change the code that starts the operating system (usually called "main boot" code), then remove Windows Vista from the multiboot system and return to Windows XP or Windows 2000. This process requires the Windows Vista installation disc.

Back up your programs, files, and settings before you begin. Removing Windows Vista is an advanced process that can result in the loss of information stored on your computer. For information on backing up your data, search for “backup" in Help and Support.

1. Insert the Windows Vista installation disc.

2. Click “Start” button, <;All Programs" and "Accessories", right click “command prompt”, then click “ Account running & rdquo;. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or provide confirmation.

3. Type [DVD drive letter]:\\boot\\bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force and press Enter.

For example, if the DVD drive letter is F, type f:\\boot\\ bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force.

4. The Windows Vista installation CD is displayed.

5. Restart your computer.

The computer will boot with a previous version of Windows installed.

6. Manually delete Windows Vista files and folders, such as program files, users, and Windows folders.

The second step: we can see that the sixth step of the first step will not necessarily succeed. Because windowsxp can't directly delete many files in the vista directory.

There are a lot of ways to find out on the Internet. So I transferred some useful files to other disks. Try to format the drive letter where vista is located. Or not. Don't let me format it. Finally I found an xp installation CD, repaired the system, and then entered the command prompt. Use format e: /q. Then exit the command line. Restart. It can be found that vista has been removed clean.
