Vista and XP to achieve LAN interconnection

Network problems have always been a concern of netizens. Problems with unreasonable and slow single-computers are well solved. With the Vista platform, the network faces the problem of LAN networking and sharing across new platforms. Is it the same as the Windows 2000 system and Windows XP system? Many users have not experienced it. Can not be determined one by one.

Build a network

Today, I use two computers to jointly set up a network of two machines, and use Windows Vista and WindowsXP as a docking machine to realize LAN interconnection and interoperability. Sharing issues with Vista and other systems. First, prepare two computers with the operating system installed, one for Vista and one for XP, then make the twisted pair and the router, and use the network cable to connect the two devices according to the usual connection. After completing the above, the related settings will be started.

First, Windows Firewall Settings

First open the Vista system control panel, click on the Windows Firewall in the security (allow the program through the Windows Firewall), and in its example options, check the file Share with the printer, and then check the network discovery item. If this item is not selected, it will cause the Vista platform to be unable to connect to the host when accessing the computers of other networks and being accessed by other computers. Therefore, the network discovery function should be enabled here. Automatically find third-party computers. (Figure 1)

Second, file sharing, service startup

Secondly open the control panel - network and Internet - set file sharing, confirm whether file sharing is enabled in the computer , printer sharing and public folder sharing. (Figure 2)

and enter Services.msc in the Start Run menu to bring up the service item, set the Server under it to automatic, and manually start the service, if this item cannot be started, the computer File, print, and named pipe sharing over the network is not supported. Then change the Workstation service to automatic startup to ensure that the connection between the client network and the remote server is created and maintained through the SMB protocol. If you want XP and Vista to communicate with each other in the network neighborhood, you must start the ComputerBrowser service. Refresh the list of maintenance network computer updates.

Tip: Here is the route to get the IP, so make sure the DHCPClient is started, so that the system can get the IP address from the router correctly. If it is not enabled, the computer will not receive the dynamic IP address and DNS. Update. If this service is disabled, all services that explicitly depend on it will not be able to start.

Third, set up a working group and IP segment

Set the operating platform of two different systems of the machine to the same working group or use the default WorkGroup, (Note: different working groups also Can be found, but the computer name can not be the same, here is used to set the same working group for easy management), if you use the router to automatically assign an IP address, in the General tab, select the automatic IP address, and confirm the save. Note: Choose to automatically obtain the DNS server address, because some networks require the DNS server address to be set. Otherwise, the Internet may not be able to resolve the domain name properly.

Tip: If you do not automatically assign IP, or use a network card to connect directly through the crossover line, you must set the IP. Set the ip address in ipv4 (Vista user) on the local or wireless link property page, for the same network segment and mask, gateway, for example, IP is 192.168.1.X (2 ≤ X ≤ 255, (note the network Do not fill in the same IP on the computer, otherwise it will cause conflicts. Subnet mask fills in 255.255.255.0, and then confirms to save. If the two computers use dual network cards to share the Internet, the computer with dual network cards is the host. The network card 1 is connected to the public network, and the network card 2 is connected to another computer. At this time, the gateway of another computer is required to fill in the IP address of the network card 2, and the machine does not need to be filled again.

IV. Management

After the above settings, the two computers can use the username and password of the other platform to exchange visits. However, for security reasons, it is necessary to re-create a new account on both computers and determine User group, then add more than six digits of password, and delete the GUEST user account, in case of any event.

Frequently Asked Questions

When encountering a non-Vista Home Home Edition Vista system, if Found another calculation If you can't access it according to the above scheme, you need to enter gpedit.msc in the non-Vista system running project to bring up the Group Policy configuration page, and then open it: Computer Configuration - Windows Settings - Security Settings - Local Policies - User Rights Assignment, View From Network If there is anyone in the user group that accesses this computer, if there is no need to add it, then check if there is anyone in the project that refuses to access this computer from the network. If it is, you need to delete it. (Small Tip: VistaHome Home Edition has no group Strategy tool).

The author's postscript: I have encountered such a thing, made a new network cable, when the test is used to test everything is normal, all lights are normal display, but when using PING When the command is unable to connect to the host, the network can't connect to the network. In this way: in the local network, the environment and objective factors often determine everything, and only by virtue of experience can the barriers become clear and play the LAN. Br>
