Vista print driver can not be installed to solve

                      In order to get a glimpse of the Vista system, I recently tried to upgrade my computer system to Vista. However, after I worked hard to install the Vista system, I have been unable to work with the normal printer before, and the printer driver can't work. In the Vista system, "falling feet." After the author repeatedly installed the test, and finally found a suitable print driver installation method, now the Vista system environment can not install the printer driver method contributed, I hope to bring some help to the print users!

Exploring the mystery that the print driver cannot be installed

When installing a printer device, we often use manual methods to install the printer driver. Most printer manufacturers provide print drivers such as install.exe or setup.exe. Double-click these files to open the installation wizard interface of the printer device. Print driver installation operation; some printer manufacturers will provide us with a print driver installation CD that can run automatically. When we open the "autorun.ini" file in the root directory window of the driver CD, we can often see the file editing area. Contains the words "open=setup.exe" or "open=install.exe".

Obviously, whether we use the manual method or the CD auto-run method to install the printer driver, they will execute the install.exe or setup.exe executable file on the installation CD without exception; When running executable files like install.exe and setup.exe in the Vista system environment, it is often necessary to control the two levels through system compatibility testing and UAC. Once one of the two levels cannot pass, the printer driver The program cannot be successfully installed in the Vista system environment.

Print driver can not be installed to deal with

From the above analysis, we can easily see that the print driver file to successfully "land" in the Vista system environment, must be compatible with the system Sex test and UAC control. In order to successfully pass these two level tests, we may try to use the following operations to install the printer driver in a targeted manner.

First log in to the Vista system workstation as a super administrator, then click the "Start" /"Run" command, in the system run dialog box that pops up, enter characters The string command "msconfig", click the "OK" button, open the system configuration program window of the workstation, click the "Tools" tab in the window, and close the UAC control option in the corresponding tab page (as shown in Figure 1 ()), then click the "OK" button to exit the system configuration program window;

Skip UAC Control and Compatibility Test

If the above installation method still can't make the printer driver succeed in the Vista system environment, then we need to find a way to skip the system. UAC control and compatibility testing for drive installation operations. Considering that many driver installation CDs directly provide device driver information files with similar inf format, if we can let the printer add wizard window to find the printer's inf file accurately, the print driver installation process will successfully skip UAC control and compatibility. Sex test.

There are many ways to find printer inf driver files. For example, we can look directly at the driver CD that comes with the printer. Of course, many driver installation CDs will also be accompanied by some other driver files. It may be difficult to find the inf file of the printer at a glance from the CD; however, the drive CDs store inf files often have regular rules. The file is usually sorted and saved to the driver subdirectory or inf directory under the root directory of the driver CD, so we can try to locate the printer driver file in the driver subdirectory or the inf directory path.

If the "figure" of the inf file cannot be found in the driver installation CD, it is very likely that these files are compressed and saved in a compressed package of RAR, CAB or ZIP format. At this time, we may wish to Open these zip files one by one to view them one by one. If found, you can directly extract the inf file to a specific directory, and then locate the printer driver search path to that specific directory. Of course, if we have tried to install the printer driver before, even if the print driver is not installed successfully, the printer's inf file will be automatically released to the temporary folder of the computer system, at this point we can enter the temporary system. The directory finds the target inf file; in general, the system's temporary directory path is "X:\\user\\current login user name\\AppData\\Local\\Temp". If the printer's inf file cannot be found from the default path, you can search by File the method to find the print driver inf file.

Once the printer's inf driver file is found, we can then click the "Start" /"Settings" /"Printers and Faxes" command, followed by the pop-up window Click the "Add Printer" command to open the printer installation wizard window, follow the window prompts, select the "Local printer connected to this computer", "Use the following port" and other options, when the installation wizard pops up the interface shown in Figure 3. Click the "Install from Disk" button, and then click the "Browse" button from the interface that pops up later, then import the printer inf driver file we searched for in the file selection dialog box, and then follow the wizard prompts. The rest of the operation will allow the printer driver to "sit" in the Vista system environment.

If the above operation does not successfully install the printer driver, then we can only download and search for the latest printer driver compatible with Vista system.
