How to disable UAC to lock desktop in Windows Vista

UAC (User Account Control) is one of the most important features introduced by Windows Vista. It is required before performing operations that may affect the operation of the computer or perform changes that affect the settings of other users. Provide permissions or enter an administrator password to help prevent unauthorized changes to your computer.

By default, when Windows Vista detects system-related operations, all elevation requests will be forwarded to the secure desktop. In this case, the desktop will be locked and only the correct management will be entered. After the credential is verified, the screen will not be unlocked until the operation continues. From a general point of view, this can effectively avoid the harm that may be caused by the user's misoperation, and ensure the security of the system in a large program.

However, in some cases, a secure desktop can cause us inconvenience—in fact, many users even consider disabling UAC for an annoying safe desktop. Of course, this is not enough. For example, when we write a tutorial for Windows Vista, we need to take a screenshot of the UAC prompt window example, but in the secure desktop, since most of the buttons and mouse functions are blocked and cannot be screenshotd, it is necessary to consider prohibiting the promotion. Disable the secure desktop when permissions are granted.

To set up a secure desktop with Windows Vista disabled, you can modify it through the Group Policy Object Editor. Type "Gpedit.msc" in the search box on the Start menu and press Enter, then select "Computer Configuration" => "Security Settings" => "Local Policies" => "Security Options" - or use local Security Policy Editor "Secpol.msc", select "Local Policy" => "Security Options" - find "User Account Control: Switch to Secure Desktop when prompted to raise" in the right pane, double-click the item, It was changed to "disabled".

This way, you can perform other operations, such as screenshots, while the UAC privilege escalation window appears.

Note: Disabling the secure desktop will reduce the security of the system to a certain extent, remember.
