Modify the registry to increase network authentication for XPSP3

In actual work, you may use Remote Desktop Connection from time to time. One of the more common situations is Windows XP and Windows Vista. By default, Windows Vista Remote Desktop Connection is "Only allow computers running remote desktops with network-level authentication to be connected (more secure)", which means that authentication is performed before the remote desktop connection, which makes the system more secure.

In fact, after installing the SP3 patch package in Windows XP, the remote desktop can already implement Network Level Authentication (NLA), but we did not find the corresponding support information in the help information. It is how it happened? In fact, this is because Windows XP SP3 does not automatically activate NLA support, we need to manually change the relevant key values in the registry, the specific steps are as follows:

Step 1: Enter Windows XP SP3, run "regedit" Open the Registry Editor, go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Lsa", double-click "Security Packages" in the right pane, and the "Edit Multiple Strings" dialog box will open, add in the list box. The content of "tspkg", as for the original content, does not need to be changed.

Step 2: Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\ServiceProvider" and double-click the "SecurityProviders" string on the right to open the "Edit String" dialog box and add it in the Value data box. ", credssp.dll", note that there is an English space after the comma.

Step 3: After completing the above changes, restart your computer. Open the Remote Desktop Connection again from the Start menu. Now we can see the message "Support Network Level Authentication" in the "About" window (as shown). Is it interesting?

Note: If you are connecting to Windows Vista remotely from Windows XP SP3, please use the computer name instead of the IP address.
