WinXP: Alternative Usage of Favorites

As we all know, there is a “Favorites” menu in IE browser, you can collect your favorite web pages at any time. When you want to visit this webpage next time, just open the favorites and click on the webpage to enter. In many people's minds, favorites are only used in Internet Explorer to help users collect and quickly access URLs. In fact, there are favorites in many places in the computer, and favorites can be used for "My Computer", "My Network Places", "Explorer", "Control Panel", and even "Recycle Bin". Windows XP allows you to open your favorite websites and favorite content from anywhere on your computer.

1. Save a file or folder

Favorites can not only save the URL, but also save a file or folder on your computer.

1. Save the folder

Open the WINDOWS Explorer, enter the target folder, then click the “Favorites” menu item in the menu bar with the mouse and select “Add” from the drop-down menu. To the Favorites command, the system will pop up the “Add to Favorites” window, where you can define the directory name and where to create it according to your hobbies. Click “OK” button when you are done, so you can hide this deeply. The directory is added to your favorites.

When you want to use it later, just open the favorite webpage and open it in your favorites.

2, save the file

If you want to add a file to your favorites, you should use the above method, first save the folder where it is stored in the favorites, and then click "Favorites" menu, find the folder in the list, right click, execute the "Properties" command, open the "Properties" window, select the "Shortcuts" tab, enter the file name in the "Target" input box (including Where the path is), for example, to save the Foxmail help file to your favorites, type "c:Program FilesfoxmailFoxHelp.CHM" (pictured) here, and finally press "Apply" to exit.
This way you can open the file by clicking it in the Favorites menu.
